FAQS

When do I need to book by?

The booking deadline will be listed on the couple’s wedding website. You’ll get the most options and best rates if you book early. You will ensure proper time for the bride and groom to finalize their wedding week plans. An initial deposit will need to be paid when making your reservation. Strongly suggest booking early as space is always subject to availability. For Hotel only booking, one night’s deposit is required to hold your room, the remaining balance will be paid upon check in.

What if my dates or departure city is different than the group?

Please email groups@hypetravel.com with your preferred dates of travel and departure city. Travelers departing from another city in Canada, will be provided with an option to fly into the city the group is going from and then join the group on the flight out. If you would prefer to depart from your own Canadian city rather than travel with the group, a package can be created to include flights, hotels, and airport transfers. For guests departing from outside of Canada, if an option to book Hotel only is not provided on the website, our planners will be more than happy to arrange your stay, just send an email to groups@hypetravel.com and put “Bride & Groom’s name” in the subject line.

Are there baggage fees?

If you have booked with the group package from Canada, 1 check-in piece of luggage up to 23kg is included, plus 1 carry on and a personal item (purse, laptop bag, small backpack), per paying passenger (not including infant). If you booked from US, UK or other international cities, Baggage fees apply. To check the rates for bags, additional bags, plus allowances, please check the airlines website.

How do I get to the resort from the airport?

For Canadian Travelers: If you are booked with the group and on the same flight, a private coach is used for your transfers to and from the hotel. For US Travelers: If you booked hotel only, there may be a transfer booking link on the couples website. For Hotel only bookings, if you book more than 3 nights, transfers may be included. Otherwise, Ubers and Didi are very cheap in the area for hotels not too far from the airport. For Mexico, you can book your transfers on our dedicated LOMUS transfer site: Book Transfers in Mexico

Who do I contact for travel related issues?

One key etiquette tip for guests at destination weddings is to avoid involving the couple over travel or room issues. If your name is spelled wrong on your documents or you missed your flight, call your travel agent. As your booking travel agent, we are your point of contact hired by the couple to service you.

What if I want to book a cheaper hotel?

Staying at the same resort the wedding taking place is your best option. This may sound basic to you, but you’ll be surprised that a couple people choose to book a cheaper room elsewhere in order to “save” money. The truth is that most of the time you end up not saving money after factoring in a day pass, usually ranging around $90+ dollars per person, to have access to the host hotel, your taxi ride and on top of that you end up missing all the pre-wedding day activities such as welcome cocktails, pre-wedding events, beach volleyball fun and all the swim up bar action.

Are there any visa requirements?

If you are a Canadian Citizen, a Permanent Resident or hold a Canadian Visa, you do not require a tourist visa to enter St. Lucia, Mexico, Jamaica and Dominican Republic. Citizens from the following countries who wish to visit Mexico do not require a visa: Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Malaysia, Singapore, United Kingdom, United States of America. All foreign visitors, regardless of their nationality, traveling to Mexico for tourism, business or in transit to another destination, are exempt from presenting a Mexican visa as long as they have a valid visa issued by any the following countries: Canada, United States of America, the United Kingdom or any of the countries comprising the Schengen Area. What is not included in my all-inclusive package?

Although your trip is “all-inclusive”, there are a few items you’ll want to take into consideration. Tips! Bring a small bundle of 1’s and 5’s with for tipping around the resort. Gratuities are technically included with your travel package, but the staff is always appreciative of the kind gesture. Be prepared by bringing small bills with so you have them if you choose to tip. The shuttle driver is not a hotel employee and will expect a tip, as will the airport employees. Tours, excursions and spa treatments are also services which are not included. You can pay with cash or credit card for these at the hotel. When traveling within Mexico and the Caribbean, U.S. Dollars are typically accepted currency.

Is travel insurance recommended?

We strongly recommend appropriate travel insurance to cover cancellation penalties levied as a result of inclement weather, airline or other transportation delays and other unforeseen disruptions, cancellations or delays or in the event of illness. Please check with your credit card company what type of insurance you have and what it may cover. We cannot sell travel insurance to US clients. Options available for Canadians are: All Inclusive Coverage, Non-medical Inclusive Coverage, Medical Only and Trip Cancellation and Interruption Only. Rates will be dependent on trip cost, age, duration of trip and any pre-existing health conditions. A specific quote, based on your situation will be provided upon your request when you submit the credit card authorization form. Check with your workplace or credit card company to see if you are already covered. Trip cancellation insurance has to be purchased within 48 hours of booking.
