How We Met
We met the modern way- just one swipe right in 2016 was all it took. At the time Dilon was on-air working for a local radio station and he had to prove to Stephanie that he wasn't trying to catfish her online. After some convincing via on-air hints, Stephanie agreed to a wine night. Dilon not being a wine drinker, brought a bottle of white and a red mead to make sure there were options (a girl always loves options and he suspected it was a test) and that was our first date. We had lots of public dates after that like restaurants, the Detroit Zoo, apple orchards, etc- but they didn't really matter because Stephanie was smitten after the first date.
The Proposal
Dilon had a vision- proposing to Stephanie while she had 2 drinks in hand! We went up to Traverse City on our annual after-Christmas vacation and started the morning off by grabbing coffee and delicious avocado toast at Mundos North Coffee in Sutton's Bay (seriously so good if you are in the area, a must try). We then headed to one of our favorite places on Leelanau Peninsula- Tandem Ciders. We grabbed our drinks and got settled by the outdoor fire pits that are nestled amongst the trees, surrounded by walls of chopped wood, with views of snow-covered apple orchards, and enjoyed our ciders.
There were a couple of ladies also enjoying a flight of cider so we chatted with them for a while and when Stephanie finished her drink, she offered to go grab 2 more. This was it- this was THE moment! Quickly Dilon texted the photographers (yes, he is that good) and they raced from the car to the firepits all while Stephanie was ordering so she didn't see them. Stephanie wrapped up at the counter and started to head back to the firepits, 2 drinks in tow. She was almost back to the seating area and realized she didn't see Dilon at the table- he was down on one knee with a ring box in hand!
