What airport should I fly into?
There are three airports in the bay area, any of them work but some are closer to Pleasanton than others.
1) San Francisco Bay Area Oakland International Airport (OAK)
This airport is the closest to Pleasanton, located in the east bay. It connects to our metro system (BART) through a separate tram. May be more difficult to fly into for international travelers. It also may be more difficult to find non-stop flights to Oakland. Good option if you're looking to fly southwest airlines.
2) San José Mineta International Airport (SJC)
This is the second closest airport to Pleasanton located in the south bay/Silicon Valley. This airport does not connect to BART but may be worthwhile if you wanted to spend extra time in the south bay before coming to the wedding or if there are cheaper flights into the south bay. Keep in mind traffic is bad in this area so if you fly in or out during rush hour expect delays getting to or from the airport.
3) San Francisco International Airport (SFO)
This is the furthest airport from Pleasanton but closest to San Francisco proper. It’s about 1-1.5-hour drive from Pleasanton but can go up to 2-2.5 with traffic. This airport connects directly to BART. This is a good option for international travelers or for people who want to stay in the city before/after the wedding.
How can I get from the airport to my hotel?
Unfortunately, we will be unable to offer a shuttle to guests traveling from the airport to their hotel. We recommend taking an Uber or renting a car if you'd like to explore San Francisco before or after our wedding.
Where should I stay? Hotel or Airbnb?
Details about discounted hotel rates can be found under the accommodations tab! Please book by April 25th to receive the discount. Use code DNK. We are planning to have shuttles from the hotel to our sangeet & ceremony/reception.
If you would like to stay in an Airbnb, there should be some in the Livermore and Pleasanton area to book! However, we will be unable to provide a discounted rate or transportation for you.
What events am I invited to and how do I know the schedule for the events?
All guests (including +1s) are invited to our haldi, sangeet, and ceremony/reception. A more detailed schedule and description of events can be found in the "events schedule" tab. Please feel free to make plans outside of these scheduled events if you would like to explore the Bay Area!
What should I wear?
You are welcome to buy Indian clothing to wear to events, but definitely do not need to! The sangeet, wedding and reception are all formal events, so you can wear formal Indian or Western clothing. Please see detailed clothing guide below:
Is it possible to rent Indian clothes if I don't want to buy them?
