Ooof, Delhi - The City of Heart! Our home-town. There is lots to see, do and eat in Delhi and as Delhiites, we have a few (too many) recommendations! MUST VISIT: - Dilli Haat INA: for handicrafts and art from all over India! - Humayun’s Tomb: a historic mausoleum renowned as a precursor to the Taj Mahal and a landmark of Mughal architecture. - Lotus Temple: a prominent Baháʼí House of Worship known for its unique lotus-like architecture. - Akshardham temple - a beautiful temple and complex that displays millennia of traditional and modern Hindu culture, spirituality, and architecture. - Chandini Chowk: The heart of Old Delhi. Be prepared for absolute chaos! Take a rickshaw ride around the laneways. Head to Jama Masjid - India’s largest mosque. You can combine this with a visit to Red Fort and stay for the light and sound show. (Chandini Chowk and Jama Masjid are included in Golden Triangle Tour). * Please be mindful of pickpockets around Old Delhi! - Hauz Khas village - HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. Go through the laneways and you can make your way to the monuments and lake. Eat and drink at Social (it’s our favourite place and definitely try their 500ml / 1l Long Island iced tea 😉 We promise you won't regret it.) - Shopping at Connaught Place, Khan Market or South Extension FOOD: Although the wedding will be a BIG food affair, some of our favourite places to eat in Delhi include: - Gulati Restaurant on Pandara Road for the most authentic North Indian cuisine https://www.gulatirestaurant.co/ - Social Hauz Khas - great pan-Indian fusion food and amazing flavours. You’re coming to India! For our Wedding! We could not be happier! There are many iconic cities and spots just a road-trip or short flight from Delhi, including Agra (Taj Mahal), Jaipur (the Pink city), Rishikesh (Birth-place of Yoga), Udaipur (City of Lakes), to name a few. But you could also venture to North and South India to explore even more of India’s cultural, natural and historical diversity.&nbsp; To make the most of your time in India, here are some itinerary and trip suggestions from us - Golden Triangle Tour (Delhi-Agra-Jaipur) - Great way to experience central India’s rich culture, heritage and history and of-course, food! You also get to see the Taj Mahal! Our recommended guided tour (attended by a friend last year who really enjoyed it) is of 6 days&nbsp;- https://www.tourradar.com/t/191150 OR You could also cover Delhi-Agra-Jaipur by hiring a private taxi. A sample Itinerary is detailed at the end of this page. Side note: When in Jaipur, try including a trip to Chokhi Dhani - a fully immersive Rajasthani Village - A must-visit! Agra - If you’re crunched on the number of days and would like just a 1/2-day trip, visiting the Taj Mahal might be your #1 India bucket list item. Agra is about 3.5 hrs-drive from Delhi and we’d recommend visiting the Taj early AM (sunrise) or afternoon (sunny arvos in Dec are beautiful). Sunset can usually get much busier. Also visit, Agra Fort (a UNESCO World Heritage Site), Fatehpur Sikri and Mehtab Bagh. Jaipur - The Pink City of Jaipur is about 4.5 hrs from Agra or about 5 hrs from Delhi by car. Iconic sites in Jaipur include the City Palace, Hawa Mahal, Jantar Mantar, Nahargarh Fort, Amber Palace and Jal Mahal. Do try a traditional Rajasthani Thaali (with Daal Baati Churma) or Laal Maas (Red Meat). You can also catch a local folk dance show in Jaipur (ask your hotel). And, please don’t forget to visit Chokhi Dhani! https://chokhidhani.com/village-fair-restaurant-jaipur/ Udaipur - The City of Lakes (and Divyani's favourite city) is just a short 1h20min flight from Delhi. We’d recommend about 3 days in Udaipur to visit the iconic places like City Palace, Saheliyon Ki Baari, Gangaur Ghat, Jagmandir and Jagdish Temple. We recommend staying in the Old City (Lal Ghat). Our favourite place to stay is the Jagat Niwas Palace: https://www.booking.com/hotel/in/jagat-niwas-palace.html There are a lot of roof-top cafes and restaurants in the old city that are absolutely amazing (Jagat Niwas Palace included). If you can splurge on stay (even for a night), we recommend The Lake Palace Hotel - a luxurious experience like no other! Even popping into the Lake Palace Hotel for a coffee/lunch is absolutely magical. Do ask their reception when the next tour of the property is and join in if you can! Side note: Try out the Panghat Spa at Jagmandir for a wonderful pamper sesh. Rishikesh - The Birth-place of Yoga. Need I (Div) say more? Hehe Rishikesh is about 4-hrs-drive from Delhi or you could also look into trains (about 7-8 hours). Some of the iconic places to visit - Lakshman Jhula, Triveni Ghat, Beatles Ashram (Yes, The Beatles!) and Neergarh Waterfall. For the adventurers, you can also explore the very popular Rishikesh river rafting and camping. You could also take a short 30-40 min-drive to Haridwar to see the Ganga Aarti at sunrise or sunset (we recommend the evening aarti at Har Ki Pauri) and also take a dip in the Holy Ganges! Kerala - You could spend 5-7 days in Kerala, South India, and include places like Kochi, Munnar (tea-country) and Alleppey (explore the backwaters - Venice of the East). When in Kochi, visit Fort Kochi and try to catch a traditional kathakali show.Must-do - Backwaters tour/ stay on a traditional houseboat in Alleppey. Meghalaya - If you’d like to try something off-the-beaten track, you could travel to North-East India to Meghalaya and visit Shillong, Cherrapunjee, Elephant Falls, Seven Sisters Falls, Umiam Lake, and the Living Root Bridges. For more adventure, you could look into an Indiahikes trek - https://indiahikes.com/documented-trek/david-scott-trek Other Tips and Tricks:- Please carry and consume Probiotics daily- Drink bottled water.&nbsp;- Avoid raw, cut salads and fruits and street food - it may look delicious but please be cautious!- Wash your hands before eating.- Try booking autos/cabs through Uber/Ola/Rapido or from a reliant taxi service with good google reviews.- Dress modestly with shoulders and knees covered when visiting temples.- Always carry some cash, since many small shops, autos and cabs don’t accept cards.- Some day-to-day hindi phrases:“Kaise hain aap?” (How are you?)“Theek hai” (Okay)“Haan” (Yes)/ “Nahi” (No)“Badhiya” (Great/ Excellent)“Ye kitnay ka hai?” (How much is this for?)“Kitna logay?” (How much will you take?)

5 Days Itinerary for India (pre/post wedding, ofcourse)

Day 1: Delhi Sightseeing Morning Qutub Minar: Start the day with a visit to this towering UNESCO World Heritage site, a symbol of Delhi’s Islamic heritage. Lotus Temple: Explore the serene and stunning Bahá'í House of Worship. Afternoon Humayun's Tomb: A precursor to the Taj Mahal, Humayun’s Tomb offers insight into Mughal architecture. Lodhi Gardens: Relax in these peaceful gardens surrounded by historical monuments. Evening Dilli Haat: Enjoy shopping for handicrafts, textiles, and souvenirs. Dinner at Connaught Place: A bustling area known for great food and shopping. Day 2: Delhi to Agra Morning Drive to Agra (approximately 3-4 hours).On the way, enjoy scenic views of rural India, and stop for a brief break. Afternoon Taj Mahal: Visit the Taj Mahal, one of the Seven Wonders of the World. Spend time admiring this stunning symbol of love (closed on Fridays). Agra Fort: Explore the Agra Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage site, which served as the main residence of the emperors of the Mughal Dynasty. Mehtab Bagh: A beautiful garden across the Yamuna River, offering a great view of the Taj Mahal. Evening Enjoy some local Agra delicacies like petha (a local sweet) or dal-makhani. Overnight stay in Agra. Day 3: Agra to Jaipur Morning: Drive to Jaipur (approximately 4-5 hours). Stop along the way for refreshments and scenic views. Afternoon Arrive in Jaipur, known as the "Pink City."Check-in to your hotel and freshen up. Evening City Palace: Explore the stunning City Palace, a mix of Mughal and Rajput architecture. Jantar Mantar: Visit the Jantar Mantar Observatory, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Hawa Mahal: Visit the iconic "Palace of Winds" (outside only). Enjoy traditional Rajasthani dinner at a local restaurant (try dal baati churma or laal maas). Day 4: Jaipur Sightseeing (optional) Morning Amber Fort: Take a scenic ride up to the majestic Amber Fort, perched on a hilltop. You can ride an elephant or jeep up to the fort.&nbsp;Try dining at 1135 AD inside Amer Fort Jal Mahal: Stop by the beautiful water palace for some photographs (no entry inside). Afternoon Albert Hall Museum: Explore this museum, which has an impressive collection of artifacts. Shopping at Johari Bazaar: Jaipur is known for its stunning jewelry, especially gemstones and silver. Evening Sunset at Nahargarh Fort: Enjoy a breathtaking view of Jaipur at sunset from this fort. Dinner at a rooftop restaurant: Enjoy a delightful meal while soaking in views of the illuminated city. Try Padao Restaurant, Nahargarh Fort Day 5: Return to DelhiMorning:Drive back to Delhi (approximately 5 hours). You can choose to take a train if you prefer. Afternoon:Visit a local market (like Sarojini Nagar or Dilli Haat) to pick up last-minute souvenirs, clothing, or handicrafts.You can also visit the Akshardham Temple if you have time before your flight. Evening:Departure: Head to the airport for your return flight.
