Q + A

Do I have to perform on the Sangeet?

Friends and family are highly encouraged to prepare and perform dances to celebrate the bride and groom. We take our Bollywood very SERIOUSLY. Don't worry - ample liquid courage will be provided. We will coordinate group dances and practices but in the meantime, we do encourage practicing your bhangra and thumka (feel free to Google 🥳).

Where do I buy Indian clothes from?

If you're in Melbourne, you can visit Little India, Dandenong (centered on Foster and Mason Streets in Dandenong). We recommend visiting Heritage India (for both men and women). You can also order clothes online in Australia or buy them in India prior to the wedding.

Stores that we recommend in Delhi:

-Manyavar Mohey, South Extension-II

- FabIndia

-Biba (For Women)

- Global Desi (For Women)

- Nalli Sarees, South Ex-I (For Women)

- Pernia’s Pop Up Mehrauli

- Meena Bazaar(For Women)

- Studio Bagecha Shahpur Jat Market (there are many other small designers in Shahpur Jat Market but most of these places will need time to custom-make your outfits)

- Ishil, Shahpur Jat (For Jewellery)

- Amrapali, Khan Market (For Jewellery)

- Mehrasons, Khan Market (For Jewellery)

Where can I get my makeup/hair/beard done?

Salons in Delhi are a one-stop-shop. You can get all your grooming and pampering done in one place. Our trusted places include: Affinity, Looks, Toni & Guy (many locations). OR you can download the Urban Company App and book your salon/spa/hair/makeup packages to get trusted professionals without going anywhere! (You'll need an Indian number for singing up on Urban Company).

I'm so excited about the Indian food! What're the best places to eat?

Please remember that you CAN'T drink tap water in India. As much as Div discourages plastic bottles, please buy bottled water wherever you go in India and ask for mineral water at ALL restaurants. Please avoid eating uncooked foods like street "chaat" and salads. Try to opt for cooked foods to reduce the chances of catching an infection. Also, please carry tummy medicines with you to keep your gut happy and healthy. Of course, Div's in-house doctor/ mum will be happy to help with any advice so please reach out if needed x

Our recommended restaurants in Delhi:

- Haldiram's (Various Locations) - for great and "safe" street food

- Gulati Restaurant, Pandara Road - for finger-licking North Indian food (must try their Dahi ke kebab and Mutton Barra Kebab)

- Naivedyam, Hauz Khas Village - for absolutely delicious South Indian cuisine

- Juggernaut, Hauz Khas Market/Kailash Colony

- Mahabelly, Saket

- Social, Hauz Khas Village - for amazing pan-India fusion food and their (in)famous 500ml or 1L LIIT

- Jamun, Lodi Colony

- Lha Kitchen, Safdarjung Enclave - for Ash and Div's love for Momos

How safe it is to travel in India?

As in any country or city, there are places that you should avoid visiting. While it is unlikely you'll end up there, please feel free to run your itinerary by us and we'd be so happy to help out x

How do I find a cab/auto?

In the bigger cities, Uber, Ola, Rapido are your best buds! International Uber accounts work in India. Tipping is highly appreciated. There are no extra charges above and beyond the final total on the app (all tolls, fees etc. are included). Hailing an auto is fairly easy anywhere too (but be mindful, it will be cold in December!)
