McMenamins Black Rabbit Restaurant

2126 SW Halsey St, Troutdale, OR 97060, USA
(503) 492-3086

Located in Edgefield's main lodge, the Black Rabbit is open daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner with an innovative menu of Northwest cuisine and traditional favorites, as well as an expansive list of regional and local wines. Fantastic murals tracing the history of Edgefield and the Columbia River Gorge line the walls, and intimate booths encourage you to linger.

The Black Rabbit’s chefs use seasonal ingredients from Edgefield's own garden – herbs, vegetables, fruits and flowers – grown using organic methods. Additional local, organic and sustainable ingredients are sourced whenever possible. Be sure to ask your server about daily specials, and save room for dessert, house made by Pastry Chef Chuck Dugo and his team.

In the adjacent Black Rabbit Bar, tables for two line walls of rich mahogany, and the 30-foot bar reaches around the corner. Courtyard seating is available seasonally as well. Take your pick from a selection of McMenamins' own handcrafted ales brewed onsite. Edgefield wines and spirits add to your choices, along with a hearty bar menu.

Edgefield Gardens

Oregon is blessed by its bounty of flowers and fields; Edgefield is a living example. Here you will find a year 'round display of colors, shapes, scents and tastes. The spectacular sculpted grounds on Edgefield's 74 acres make it an ideal place for meditative and educational wanderings.

From the herb garden to the Fir Grove, and the Red Shed Pond to the Wedding Meadow, enjoy all we've got to offer. We even encourage you to bring along a pint or a glass of wine.

Don't miss the lovely vegetable gardens, grown using organic methods (and which provide seasonal ingredients for the Black Rabbit Restaurant & Bar), the orchard, vineyards (which supply our winery) and collection of perennials and trees planted throughout the property.

Edgefield Brewery

The largest of McMenamins' breweries, the Edgefield Brewery opened in 1991 in the old cannery building of the former Multnomah County Poor Farm. Original artwork by Joe Cotter and Scott Young depicts the history of beer along the walls, and two of McMenamins' longer running brews, Black Rabbit Porter and Edgefield Wheat, originated here, as did an early company Strong Ale known as Edgefield Extra.

These days, in addition to their regular rotation of standards and seasonals, you can often wrap your hands around a pint of various sublimely hopped IPAs. You’re also likely to find some Sour Ales in the mix, as experimentation abound at the Edgefield, where the paddle is currently led by Nathan Whitney, Will Gaither, Shane Kono and Dave Kosanke. Brewery Manager Matt Bergfield oversees the madness that’s required for endless creativity.

Perhaps most impressive though is the legion of beers from the wood. Edgefield Brewery has easy access to freshly dumped whiskey and rum barrels from the Distillery up the path, and as such, a healthy barrel-aging program has been undertaken. Watch for these spectacular barrel-aged treats to be unveiled at the monthly releases at the Distillery Bar and Bagdad Theater.

McMenamins Edgefield Distillery

Distillery, 2126 SW Halsey St, Troutdale, OR 97060, USA
(503) 665-2992

Housed in what was once a potato shed on the acreage of a former poor farm, the Edgefield Distillery is one of two McMenamins distilleries (the other is at Cornelius Pass Roadhouse in Hillsboro). We had been making wine at Edgefield since 1990, so it was a natural step to begin distilling brandy and grappa in 1998. The happy experiment worked, and soon whiskey was in the still. Hogshead was the first, and we never looked back, adding gin, rum and other spirits to a growing lineup crafted by Head Distiller James Whelan and his team.

Spirits can be tasted at the adjacent Distillery Bar, which doubles as the “clubhouse” for Edgefield’s Pub Course.
