Like many modern romances, our story began online. Adam was on Bumble looking for friends and Dorian was looking for something a little more. When Adam saw Dorian's Bumble photos, especially the one where she was drinking from a mug of beer the size of her head, he thought that she looked like a lot of fun. And there was something about Adam's smirk in his photo that caught her eye...

Their first date was in Denham Springs at Walk-Ons. It was a date that almost didn't happen because Adam couldn't catch a clue that Dorian was interested in meeting up with him. He kept telling her he was going there on Saturday after work for shrimp. She kept throwing hints that it would be easy for her to meet him there, but it wasn't until she asked, "Would you care for company?" that he caught that, yes, she was interested in meeting him.

Walking in to the first date, he figured he'd get the shrimp out of the deal, and she figured she might get a good story.

When they met in real life, he thought she was pretty and she thought he was funny. And when that end of the night first kiss happened... wowsers.

After that, they spent hours on the phone every night talking and texting. The second date was Albasha's and ice cream, and by the end of the night, they decided they were exclusive.

They made it Facebook official the next day.

That fall, they talked during the week and went out every weekend. Adam would drop by at Torrid to give her a Coke and a kiss on his way home from work.

October 13th, he told her he loved her. It took her a couple of minutes because she was so in awe that this amazing man loved her, but she said it back.

The rest of the fall, they went on little adventures to the Renaissance Festival and the 13th Gate. He met her family and she met his. Dorian changed jobs and became an insurance adjuster.

One day, he told her, "I'm going to propose sometime next year."

And, for once, the Queen of the First Date didn't panic about commitment.

They had their first couple's vacation planned for New Years Eve, going to a Breathwork retreat for her and then a casino, but Covid hit Dorian's family and they cancelled their plans. Then at one o'clock in the morning on New Year's Eve, after a heavy discussion about their relationship, they realized they were engaged.

It wasn't a big proposal, but more of a mutual agreement that they wanted to marry one another.

"OK, then," Adam said. "It's official."

And, true to self, it took Dorian a hot second to catch up and ask, "Wait. Does this mean we're engaged?"

"Yep," he replied.

And that was that.

Three days later, Adam got down on one knee with a ring.

It's been a fast romance -- Mach 5, as Adam likes to call it -- but when you know, you know.
