To feel like a true Carioca, you should stay by the water, enjoy the day drinking some Mate with lime or fresh coconut water and eat Biscoito Globo. You can rent chairs and umbrellas with any of the vendors on the beach, or choose to bring your own "canga" (beach towels).
You can also enjoy the day just walking on the boardwalk and grabbing coconut water in one of the "quiosques" over the way!
