Old Sacramento Waterfront

1014 2nd St #200, Sacramento, CA 95814, USA
(916) 970-5226

Old Sacramento is the riverfront historic district, with Gold Rush-era buildings, cobblestone streets, and horse-drawn carriages. It’s home to numerous museums, including the Sacramento History Museum and the state Railroad Museum, which offers excursion train rides. Make sure to stop by Evangeline's and peruse the costume floor and pick up some salt water taffy here.

Sutter's Fort State Historic Park

2701 L St, Sacramento, CA 95816, USA
(916) 445-4422

Sutter's Fort was a 19th-century agricultural and trade colony in the Mexican Alta California province. Established in 1839, the site of the fort was originally part of a utopian colonial project called New Helvetia by its builder John Sutter, though construction of the fort proper would not begin until 1841. The fort is famous for its association with the Donner Party, the California gold rush, and the formation of the city of Sacramento, surrounding the fort.

You may not know that Sacramento has some of the best produce in the United States -- but everything is grown here! The Midtown Farmer's Market was voted the #1 Farmer's Market in California and 3rd best nationwide. If you're in town early, make sure to stop by Saturday morning.

Eating & Drinking Establishments We ❤️

Urban Roots Brewery & Smokehouse

Get a rosé slushie at the place where we had our first date.

The Morning Fork

1111 21st Street, Sacramento, CA 95811, USA
(916) 476-6765
The best diner breakfast you’ll find in Midtown — stop by before or after hitting the Midtown Farmer’s Market. (Don’t worry about the line — it moves fast!)

Magpie Café

1601 16th St, Sacramento, CA 95814, USA
(916) 452-7594

Magpie is an excellent place to stop for a good glass of wine and an elevated meal -- without breaking the bank. This is one of Lizz's favorite places in town.

New Station Seafood

1800 Broadway, Sacramento, CA 95818, USA
(916) 446-6688

This is our local Chinese restaurant. Hot tip: Order the House Special Chow Mein Hong Kong Style.

Frank

1610 R St #150, Sacramento, CA 95811, USA
(916) 476-4634

A very cool dark speakeasy type bar tucked away in the Ice Blocks, perfect for a nice cocktail or whiskey drink. Bring cash as they're cash only!

The Butterscotch Den

3406 Broadway, Sacramento, CA 95817, USA
(916) 955-2556

One of our favorite bars -- we celebrated here the night we got engaged! Get a freezer martini and a caviar bump. If you come for dinner, be prepared to cook it yourself at the community grill in the middle of the restaurant. If you're lucky, you may catch a jazz singer crooning her heart out.

Binchoyaki

2226 10th St, Sacramento, CA 95818
Delicious Japanese food

La Venadita

3501 3rd Ave, Sacramento, CA 95817, USA
(916) 400-4676

This is Ryan's top Mexican food recommendation -- he recommends the Quesabirria. Make sure you get the fried jalapeno salsa!
