Q + A

Welcome to our FAQ page. We are delighted to have you join us for our wedding celebration at The Inn at Willow Grove, a beautifully restored 18th-century estate nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. We want to ensure we answer all of your questions. For now, we have provided basic information and we will continue to add to this as our wedding draws closer. Please check back for regular updates!

RSVP Information

Invitations will be mailed approximately five months before our big day. We’ll accept electronic RSVPs only, and detailed instructions will be included with your invitation. Thank you in advance for your timely response—we are so excited to share our special day with you!

Directions, Transportation, & Accomodations

Are the ceremony and reception sites accessible for guests using a wheelchair or those with mobility challenges?

We are so excited to have you join us! While the Inn property has a charming layout, it may present some challenges for those using a wheelchair or who have difficulty walking, as there is a bit of a walk to the ceremony site and between the ceremony and reception. We want to make sure everything is as smooth and comfortable as possible for you! Please reach out to Tina Gill at kristinav.gill@gmail.com so we can work together on any arrangements you might need to enjoy the celebration to the fullest.

Is there a hotel block reserved for guests?

YES! Our wedding party and immediate family will be staying at The Inn at Willow Grove. This information has been provided directly to these people. For our dear friends and extended family members we have a block of hotel rooms with a discount reserved at the nearby Roundhill Inn. We also have made additional lodging recommendations. These can all be found on the Travel Page of this web site.

Will Transportation be provided to The Inn at Willow Grove if I am not staying on the property?

Yes. We will be running a shuttle provided by Central Virginia Wine Tours. This shuttle will run from the Roundhill Inn to The Inn at Willow Grove for the ceremony and reception, and then back at the end of the celebration. Check back later for specific schedule information.

If I prefer to drive to The Inn, will there be parking?

You may certainly drive to the Inn. There is ample parking on site and there will be clear signage and directions as you enter the property.

Where will the ceremony and reception be held? Inside or outside?

Our ceremony will take place outdoors, weather permitting, in the Boxwood Garden. Surrounded by historic boxwoods and trees, this peaceful setting reflects our love of the outdoors. After the ceremony, you’ll take a short stroll through the Inn’s grounds to The Ruins and The Barn for the evening’s festivities. Dinner will be served in The Barn, a comfortable space that blends rustic charm with modern amenities, including climate control. Cocktails and dancing will follow under a tent illuminated by string lights, letting us celebrate under the stars with plenty of cover. There will be signs and friendly faces to help you find your way!

Plus Ones & Children

May I bring a friend or date with me?

We’re looking forward to celebrating this special day with our closest friends and family! To keep our celebration intimate, we’re only able to accommodate the people listed on the invitation. We truly appreciate your understanding and can’t wait to spend this meaningful time together with you! If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Can we bring our children to the wedding?

We absolutely adore children, and we know they bring so much joy to any occasion. However, to keep our celebration intimate and ensure there’s plenty of space for everyone to relax and enjoy the day, we’ve decided to make this an adults-only event. We hope this allows you to enjoy and have a stress free evening. We completely understand that this might require some planning on your part, so please don’t hesitate to let us know if you need help finding a babysitter. We’re happy to assist. Thank you for understanding, and we can’t wait to celebrate with you!

Attire

What is the dress code for the wedding? Are there any colors or styles you would prefer for me to wear?

We’re so glad you asked! Our wedding is black-tie optional, but we’re aiming for a formal European garden style rather than the traditional black-tie look. Think joyful, elevated attire that embraces the romantic vibe of the setting. Flowing dresses in garden-inspired colors—soft, cheerful, and natural tones like pastels, florals, or jewel tones—are perfect for women. For men, a tuxedo or suit works beautifully. Most importantly, come dressed to celebrate—ready to dance, drink, and enjoy the evening to the fullest!

How should I dress for the venue and weather?

Our wedding will be held outdoors, and while September weather is typically temperate, we recommend planning for any weather just in case! If it’s cool, a light wrap or shawl will keep you comfortable, and if it’s warm, lightweight attire will be perfect—there will be plenty of shade to help you stay cool. We want you to feel great and enjoy the day to the fullest!

What kind of shoes should I wear for the wedding?

Since our wedding will be outdoors, we recommend choosing footwear that’s both stylish and practical for walking on grass and uneven terrain. Block heels, wedges, flats, or dressy sandals are great options for navigating the venue comfortably. Save your sharp stilettos for another occasion—your feet will thank you! Most importantly, wear something that allows you to celebrate, dance, and enjoy the evening with ease!

Menu & Dietary Restrictions

What kind of food will be served at the wedding?

We’ll start the evening with hors d’oeuvres during cocktail hour, followed by a sit-down dinner featuring a choice of entrée. The food will be prepared by the talented team at The Inn, known for their amazing restaurant and catering capabilities at Vintage, a four-star culinary gem. You can expect a meal that’s both artfully crafted and absolutely delicious! If you have any dietary restrictions, please let us know when you RSVP so we can ensure everyone has a wonderful dining experience.

Will there be drinks served at the wedding?

Yes, we’ll have an open bar throughout the evening! During dinner, wine will be served at the table to pair with your meal. If you prefer a cocktail with dinner, be sure to grab one from the bar before we sit down, as the bar will be closed during the meal service. After dinner, the bar will reopen so you can keep the celebration going! Cheers to a fantastic evening!

Will there be meal options for guests with dietary restrictions or allergies?

Absolutely! The service at The Inn is truly impeccable, and we want every guest to feel cared for. During the RSVP process, we’ll be collecting dietary restrictions and allergies to ensure that there are meal options for everyone. If you have specific needs, please let us know when you RSVP, and we’ll take care of the rest!

Wedding Day Itinerary

What time should I arrive for the wedding?

We kindly ask that you arrive by 4:00 PM to give yourself plenty of time to walk to the ceremony site and get settled. The ceremony will begin promptly, and we can’t wait to share this special moment with you!

Will there be anything planned after the reception?

Absolutely! The celebration doesn’t end with the reception—we’d love for you to join us for an after-party in The Pub! This is located on the ground floor or the main building. Late-night snacks will be provided to keep the energy up, and a cash bar will be available for those who’d like to continue the festivities. We can’t wait to keep the party going with you!

We look forward to sharing this special day with you in such a serene and historic setting. If you have any additional questions or need further information, please don't hesitate to reach out!
