This is an adults-only occasion. While we love all of the children in our lives, our wedding week celebration is for adults only.

Our Wedding

In April of 2020, Elizabeth was gearing up for her final exams to cap off her first year of law school, Michael had recently rescued a puppy from ASPCA, and a global pandemic had hit the U.S. only a month prior. So naturally it was the absolute best time for us to connect on a dating app. We hit it off immediately. Our first date was supposed to involve a brief phone call followed by watching a movie "together," but we ended up talking for three hours until Michael suggested (much to Elizabeth's delight given the surprise nature of the suggestion) that we should FaceTime each other. Our second date was an 8-hour marathon phone call/FaceTime that neither of us wanted to end until 4:00 AM demanded we both get some sleep. Elizabeth finished her exams a few weeks after we connected and we went on our first real in-person date. On May 12, 2020, we went to Meso Maya, which became a staple restaurant of ours, and had an amazing time. We went back to Michael's house, Elizabeth met Freckles, and then we embarked on a game of Monopoly (which Elizabeth won). We officially began dating on May 21, 2020, and we were nearly inseparable until Elizabeth left for Salt Lake City in early July 2020 for a summer internship. We talked on the phone and over FaceTime every day. Michael came out to Salt Lake for a week to visit Elizabeth, go to Lake Powell, and meet the Nielson clan. In August 2020, Elizabeth transferred to SMU Dedman School of Law and Michael, having graduated from law school in 2014, was there by her side to help out in whatever ways he could. We moved in together on December 11, 2020 and got engaged over a pistachio soufflé at Rise, our favorite French restaurant in Dallas, the very next day. And so, we began building the wonderful, loving home we have today with Freckles (our doggo) and Phoebe (our cat, and realistically the most important part of our household). The vast majority of 2021 and 2022 were taken up by Elizabeth focusing on (with Michael's help) and absolutely crushing law school, graduating in May of 2022 Summa Cum Laude. We moved to Salt Lake City shortly after Elizabeth graduated and bought our first home together in Sugarhouse in June of 2022. After Elizabeth took (and, again, crushed) the Bar Exam at the end of July 2022, we went on an amazing post-bar vacation to Paris, Brussels, and Amsterdam. We began serious wedding planning in October of 2022 and did a glamorous engagement photo shoot capturing the glorious fall colors of Utah before the leaves changed color and the snow covered everything in a seemingly-permanent layer of white. We are so excited to celebrate our love with you—our closest friends and family—in Tulum, Mexico in May. Cheers!

Since there are no direct flights into Tulum, we will be flying into Cancun International Airport and shuttling as a group. Most flights around the country land in Cancun at 3:00, so please plan to arrive within that same time frame to allow for shared car service to lower the price for the group!

Elizabeth and Michael are flying into Cancun from Salt Lake City. We are flying in on Delta flight number DL0649, and we land at 2:58 PM. We leave Tulum on May 25 at 5:58 PM to head to Bali for our honeymoon.

Delta Airlines

Cancun Airport Immigration will hand you this form upon your arrival in Mexico. You will need this document at the end of your trip.&nbsp;Keep it safe during your stay.&nbsp;They will ask for it at the airport check-in at your departure.&nbsp; Once you have gone through customs and picked up your luggage, proceed to the arrivals area. Please be aware: you will be approached by numerous people offering to give you a ride or rent you a car.&nbsp;Do not interact with them, sign anything, or communicate with them in any way. Proceed outside to meet with the rest of the group to carpool to Tulum.

Upon Arrival in Cancun

The price will be between $35-40 per person for the car service to and from Cancun and Tulum. Please email our wedding planners, Fernanda and Martina, at fernanda@tailormadedreams.com.mx and assistant@tailormadedreams.com.mx to reserve the transportation. Once you have picked up your luggage and cleared customs, proceed to the arrivals area. Your driver will meet you in the area where the private transfers and taxis are located. For those landing before 3:00 PM on Saturday, please wait for the rest of the wedding party to arrive before departing for Tulum. Now prepare for a ride down a crowded main road (approx. 1.5 hrs) that will lead you to the city of Tulum. Once you reach the city of Tulum, you will be taken down a narrow, bumpy dirt road (Beach Road), and that means you have almost arrived. Pay your driver in cash.

Car Service

We booked NEST out for the nights of May 20 - 22 so that all of our guests can stay at one resort. Once everyone RSVPs, the resort will reach out to you directly to book your room. While everyone must stay for the nights of May 20 - 22, we would love for you to come earlier and/or stay longer if your plans allow. You can coordinate with NEST during your booking if you want to stay longer than the required dates. Rooms during the bookout period will be approximately $400 per person per night, which includes daily breakfast. We anticipate that room prices before and after the bookout period will be lower. Let NEST know if you will be staying any additional nights before or after May 20 - 22 as that is a separate reservation. Please note: Rooms must be paid in full by March 21, 2023.

There will be&nbsp;an agenda and maps in your room&nbsp;to help you navigate the weekend along with a tote bag to carry your must-haves to and from the beach.​There will be a water jug in for drinking water and brushing your teeth.&nbsp;Do not drink the water from the tap. You may wash your body and hair with the water, but please do not drink the tap water. Your water will be refilled throughout the day. There is&nbsp;complimentary sunscreen and mosquito repellent&nbsp;in your room and in the public spaces.

In Your Room

NEST is&nbsp;not an all inclusive resort, however breakfast is included. All other purchases can be charged to your room or purchased with a card or cash. The link below will take you to their food and drink menu. The beach restaurant is open from 8:00 AM - 10:00 PM.

Travel

Tulum is full of many things to do and see. We have included some of our favorites below. We encourage you to book in advance of the trip so that you can make the most out of your visit.

Some excursions will provide travel for you, so whenever you are booking, please ask the travel coordinator if this is something that they do. If the excursion does not include travel, Namron Hospitality is happy to coordinate transportation for you. Please email the concierge at the email link below and let them know you are staying at NEST, are with the Nielson-Farrell wedding, what excursion you are doing, when the excursion begins, and when you anticipate the excursion will end. From there, they will work with you to book your transportation.

Transportation

NEST offers additional activities, wellness, excursions, and an on-site spa that is open from 11:30 AM - 5:30 PM each day. Complimentary yoga is currently offered poolside at Radhoo on Saturday and Monday between 5:00 - 6:00 PM. Click the link below to sign up for activities that NEST provides. Note: if you want to participate in a yoga class, please sign up. The class may fill up and we dont want you to miss it.

Hotel Offerings

Radhoo is a sister resort of NEST. It is located just across the street (on the jungle side) and is home to the largest pool in Tulum. Because our guests are staying within the Namron Hospitality Group, our guests may access Radhoo's pool. There are poolside cabanas, beds, drinks, and food. So make sure to take advantage of this gorgeous space. When you visit the pool, just let the front desk at Radhoo know that you are staying at NEST so that you don't have to pay the pool fee.

Rio Secrete is a stunning underground river with thousands of dramatic stalactites and stalagmites located near&nbsp;Playa del Carmen where you can observe natural history dating back millions of years, as you hike and swim through a route of about 1 km full of beautiful stalactites and stalagmites.&nbsp;

Tulum was the last great city constructed and inhabited by the Mayan people between the thirteenth and fifteenth centuries. It was a site of worship to the&nbsp;Great Descending God&nbsp;whose image adorns the temples within the site. Tulum was also of great importance for sea trade, most specifically for the trading of obsidian. Tribes from all over Mexico and other Central American countries would travel here for commerce. Today, numerous structures remain, spread out over groomed lawns and oceanside cliffs. The site’s buildings are an evolution of architectural styles that showcase the growth of the area over the centuries.&nbsp;

Tulum Archaeological Zone

A sublime area of natural beauty, Sian Ka'an is home to thousands of species of flora and fauna, which is why the region became a designated Biosphere Reserve in 1986.&nbsp;

Xcaret Park is a privately owned and operated theme park, resort, and self-described ecotourism development located in the Riviera Maya. Because it is in Playa Del Carmen, it is outside of Tulum. However, coordinating a shuttle to Playa Del Carmen is easy and Xcaret Park is a wonderful way to spend the day in Mexico.

VESICA is in the heart of Tulum’s Mayan jungle and is centered around an open-air cenote, the ancient circulatory water system of the Mayan civilization possessing deep folklore and storytelling. There are food and drinks available to indulge in while you sit around and in the cenote. VESICA is located in town, away from the beach.

Akumal is east of Tulum and we will drive through it on our way to Tulum from Cancun. It is about a 45-minute shuttle ride from Tulum to Akumal. The website above is a travel guide on how to book swimming with the turtles if you would like to! The writer has several links in the guide for booking and tours. There are rules and requirements to protect the turtles, so please review and make sure you are abiding by the requirements.

"Ven a la Luz" – or "Come Into The Light" – was created by South African artist Daniel Popper. That sculpture has been on display in Tulum since its inclusion in a major art festival in 2018, but it is now being moved to Ahau Tulum permanently.&nbsp;The striking sculpture is ten meters tall and is a multimedia project, made from wood, rope, steel, and natural plant life. Showing a woman with eyes closed, holding her chest apart, the sculpture was created to represent man’s delicate relationship with nature. It is just a short walk down the road from NEST.
