It’s funny how life can change so fast. One minute, I’m graduating high school and working at a cafe and the next, I’m in an entirely new state and serving as a waitress. Three years ago, my family moved to Pennsylvania for my dad’s new job as a senior pastor. It was both exciting and slightly nerve wracking to have a fresh start in a new area at 18. But I honestly have met some of my best friends and the most important people in my life due to this change. When I first started attending our new church, they were many people who pushed for me to meet “Shane Meckley”. But I’ve never been one to do what I’m told. At least not immediately. Shane and I ended up in the same friend group but there was no romantic interest until a year and a half later. Shane and I talked for approximately 7 months before he asked me to be his girlfriend on December 23, 2023 (I guess he was nervous). I was in college at the time so my first relationship was long distance and had its struggles. Even though Shane and I’s different personalities sometimes clash, we have continually fell in love. On March 25th of 2025, Shane took me to the woods. He claimed his uncle need his help with his well but when I turned around, he was on his knee proposing to me. Would you look at that, our engagement was built on a foundation of lies? I may have told him no at first, but it was only because of my disbelief. I don’t handle surprise that well, I guess. Anyways, since then I have been finishing my last year of college and planning for the big day. I cannot wait to spend the rest of my life with Shane and I hope to share this next stage of my life with all of you.
