Our Story

Tuesdays are when locals ski... and sometimes "wanna be locals." On May 3, 2022, Liz decided it was time for a day away to ski the legendary Arapahoe Basin. She made the trek from Colorado Springs, where she was living at the time, pulled into the parking lot, and parked next to a bright blue Tacoma. Out pops Summit County local Greg, who, upon first glance, thought Liz was cute, so he promptly commented on her skis to start a conversation. Next thing you know, they were taking a lap together. Greg thought to himself, "Man, this girl can ski!" So he asked if she wanted to hike the East Wall. For those who don't know, the East Wall is the grand backdrop to A-bay (as the locals call it). The terrain requires a 45-minute hike. There are three shoots riders can drop after summiting. This terrain is expert terrain with one of the most gorgeous views in the county.

After dropping the second shoot, Liz and Greg sat at the bottom in an area known as the Land of the Giants and chatted for about an hour. After a few more laps, they talked in the parking lot for the rest of the afternoon. Greg asked Liz to ski the following Tuesday and then join him for dinner and a hot springs visit. This was the first of many adventures these two have shared.

Over the Summer they met, the two climbed 12 fourteemers, rock climbed, white water rafted, and visited Great Sand Dunes National Park. Greg spent time in Colorado Springs with Liz, her friends, and the kids she was ministering to at the time. In return, Liz would visit Greg in Summit County on Wednesday nights to play volleyball with Greg and his friends. Their friendship grew and soon became more. Greg pursued Liz relentlessly, and after much prayer and consideration, the two began to date on September 1, 2022.

Since that Summer, the two have continued to share their love for adventure and the outdoors. They have continued to raft, climb, and ski together. The couple has visited numerous national parks and taken ski trips to Tahoe, CA, Whistler, British Columbia, and Mt. Hood, Oregon. They have camped, summited more peaks, hiked to waterfalls, and more.

Adventure is not the only love they share. They also both deeply share in their love for Jesus. As most of you know, Liz works for Snowboarders and Skiers for Christ. Greg also recognizes the darkness in Summit County and joins Liz in efforts to share the truth of the gospel and the love of Jesus. Liz would say he is the ministry partner she has been waiting and praying for.

On February 5, 2024, Greg asked Liz if she wanted to skin up Mayflower Gulch. Liz had her suspicions but didn't think much of it. The two typically spend Mondays together and often ski the backcountry. The entire way up the skin track, Liz convinced herself that today was not the day he would propose. Meanwhile, Greg was scheming how to get ahead of Liz to take the ring out of his pocket. At the halfway point, in the glistening white snowfield of the gulch, Greg, with skis and skis still on, got down on one knee and popped the question. The rest is history!

These two can't wait for a life of adventure, the outdoors, and sharing Jesus together. They are excited to celebrate with the biggest dance party ever this Summer!
