What airport should I fly into?
You should book your flights to Denver International Airport (DIA), as it is the closest airport to Summit County, where the Arapahoe Basin is located. It's about an hour and a half drive.
How should I get from the airport to summit county?
Our suggestion would be a rental car, this not only would make transportation easier for the duration of your stay, but additionally would allow you to explore the beautiful place we call home!!
If this is not an option the next best thing would be one of the transportation services listed on the accommodations page . (peak one express, epic mountain express, etc...)
We would not recommend an Uber or Lyft service as this would be extraordinarily costly and there are little to no Uber drivers that are in summit county which would make getting back to DIA very difficult.
Where should I stay?
Please see the accommodations page. There, we have listed 10+ options for your stay! Hotels in Dillon are closer to the church and reception venue, Breckenridge is a great vacation destination, and hotels in Silverthorne are cost-efficient.
Additionally, there are tons of Airbnbs in Summit County, and it is more common to stay in an Airbnb here rather than a hotel.
What should I wear?
The attire is Cocktail Attire. A note about shoes: All guests will be riding a ski chair lift to the reception location (there will be special accommodations for the elderly and injured). If you plan to wear high heels to the ceremony that it great! Just make sure you bring a pair of shoes for the lift ride that are appropriate for getting on and off the lift.
What should I pack?
Aside from clothes for the wedding, we strongly advise that you bring a coat and a rain jacket, as the weather in Summit County in the Summer can change very quickly. Even though it is July, it may not be warm. Make sure that you bring sunscreen, at 10,000 feet and higher, you are much closer to the sun and will burn easily. We suggest that you bring shoes to hike in, sandals for the water, and outdoor activity clothes. There are miles of hiking trails, biking trails, and lots of beautiful passes to the drive. If you are not an outdoor enthusiast there are multiple towns with dining and shopping. See Activities page.
How should I prepare for the high altitude?
I'm sure you all have heard the rumors that Colorado is hard to breathe in, and the elevation can be difficult to adjust to! Well, they're true. The small towns of the Rocky Mountains (the one where Liz and I live in particular) are situated at 10,000 feet, and Black Mountain Lodge (our venue) is closer to 11,000 feet. That said some handle the elevation better than others, we recommend drinking much more water than you would normally have in the week or weeks leading to your trip! Additionally, as fun as it may be, try to avoid (or minimize) alcohol or coffee, as this will lead to dehydration.
If you have reason to be particularly concerned about how you will fare at elevation, there are also oxygen machine rentals. These units will go in your room while you sleep and allow for better breathing while sleeping.
Alcohol is stronger here!! If you plan to drink while visiting, please remember that 1 drink equals 2 here.
Can I bring a plus one?
As fun as more guests are we do have limits for capacity at our venue, unless your invitation includes a plus one please just bring yourself. (We're excited to see you!)
