We met during the Covid-19 pandemic in March 2021 on the Drillfield at Virginia Tech through a campus ministry, Intervarsity. However, we didn't really get to know each other until a community dinner in September. Colin said "there's so much you don't know about me", and Liz said "I want to know it all". She's still learning.
Cautious about dating, we took a few weeks and made it official on the phone during our Thanksgiving break. We made frequent trips to Sub Station II (you are missed) and liked taking trips to Roanoke.
In April, 2022, Colin accepted a job with Cummins in Columbus, Indiana while Liz had another year of school left. We amicably broke up and went "radio silent". It was a lonely and busy summer for us. One random Wednesday in August, Liz and Colin started texting. We took a leap of faith and started dating again. This time, 422 miles apart.
10 months of long-distance were tough, special, and tedious. If you've been there, you know. Prayer, video calls, and weekend trips to Kentucky helped make it fun.
Liz graduated from Virginia Tech in May 2023 and moved to Columbus, Indiana with Colin 13 days after she walked across the stage.
On July 21st, 2023, Liz made hamburgers for dinner and the two were about to play Mario Party 6 together. Colin said "Can you stand up for a second?" Liz was surprised to see Colin slide across the floor with her dream engagement ring. It was wonderful!
We currently live in Columbus, Indiana with our betta fish, Turbo JetFire and enjoy playing Mario Games, taking walks, and making each other laugh. We are so grateful you are here and a part of our story!
