Where is the wedding? / Var kommer bröllopet vara?

The wedding will be held at Tavelsjö Bygdegård, this is about half an hour outside the city of Umeå in Sweden. /Bröllopsfesten kommer ske i Tavelsjö Bygdegård. Den ligger ungefär en halvtimme utanför Umeå.

Can I get a ride from Umeå to Tavelsjö? / Kan jag få skjuts från Umeå till Tavelsjö?

Yes! When you RSVP there will be an option to say whether you need a ride and we will make sure everything is organised. Ja! När du OSAr kommer det finnas möjlighet att säga att du behöver skjuts eller kan skjutsa och vi kommer sen att organisera detta.

What language do people speak?

The official language is Swedish, but most people will be able to speak English with you.

What's the local currency?

The local currency is Swedish kroner (SEK), this is shortened kr or :- in shops and the like. Cash can be used in most shops, but often card or digital payments are used in shops, taxis, public transport and at markets.

Anything about nature and weather?

The weather in July should be mild to warm (15-25 degrees if it's normal), check the weather forecast in advance. There are a lot of mosquitoes. They are not dangerous but mosquito repellent is a good investment to keep them at bay. Packing sunscreen, water-proofs, swimwear, summer clothes, long trousers and a jumper should keep you prepared for most summer weather.

Will the sun never go down?

The wedding is fairly far from the Arctic Circle, which is where the sun never goes down during certain parts of the year. Although the sun will set, most of the night will remain light, so making sure you have curtains to close at your accommodation may help you sleep.

How do swedes usually greet each other?

Swedes usually shake hands and say their names on first encounter.

What will they ask at passport control in Sweden?

If you are travelling from the UK, they often ask what you are travelling for, where you will stay and when you are planning to return.
