There are so many great areas to hike around Grand Junction. Below are a list of our favorite hikes:
1. Liberty Cap - where we got engaged! This is a moderate to difficult hike, with ~1,200 ft of elevation gained over 1.5 miles (3 miles roundtrip). Provides a nice overlook of the Grand Valley at the top.
2. Mount Garfield - a Grand Junction classic. Very challenging hike with 2,000 feet of elevation gained over 2 miles (4 miles roundtrip). You might also run into some wild horses!
3. Cabin Loop - a moderately challenging 6-mile loop that leads to a historic cabin.
4. Monument Canyon Loop - moderate loop through the red rock of the CO National Monument. Great hike if you're looking to spot wild rams.
5. Skinner Cabin Trail - an easy, 2 mile (mostly flat) hike on a well maintained path.
6. Mesa Lakes Trail - this trail is great if you want to get up into the mountains! About an hour drive from Grand Junction.
7. River Front Trail - paved, mostly flat trail that follows the river.
