Kyle is Vance’s best friend from One Life at 3 Springs Ranch. Kyle currently works at 3 Springs.

Genevieve was Elsie’s roommate all four years of college. She just finished her first year teaching high school.

Sophia is one of Elsie’s best friends from college. They met on the Asbury Women’s Lacrosse team and were both in the Service Mount Program. Sophia is now living in Kentucky working with horses and living with Elsie.

Kayla is Elsie’s longest friend, they’ve known each other their whole lives. Kayla is now teaching at a middle school in the Chicago suburbs.

Audrey is one of Elsie’s best friends from college, they lived on the same hall for two years and together in the same apartment senior year. Audrey is pursuing her masters in social work and working with equine assistance therapy.

Caroline is one of Elsie’s best friends from college, they lived on the same hall for three years and together in the same apartment senior year. Caroline also played soccer and got married in June 2024.

Kyle is Elsie’s younger brother. He is playing football at Western Illinois University.

Ava is one of Elsie’s best friends from middle and high school. They played lacrosse together growing up. Ava graduated from Nebraska University and now lives in Houston, Texas.

Reyna and Elsie met in middle school and have been best friends ever since. They did color guard in high school together for a year. Reyna is a nanny and is going to school for social work.

MJ is one of Elsie’s best friends from high school. They met from their brothers playing youth football together. She graduated from Indiana University.

Piper is the youngest daughter of Elsie’s college lacrosse coach.

Can go visit the Kentucky Horse Park where they have museums, the parade of breeds at the breeds barn (where Elsie worked for a summer, peep her in the red dress), mounted patrol, trail rides, and host horse shows.

The Battle of Richmond Visitors Center and Museum provide an excellent overview of the Battle of Richmond to history buffs and casual visitors alike. There is a lot of information to learn about as you navigate the historical grounds that was the setting of the second-largest Civil War battle fought in Kentucky on August 29th and 30th of 1862. The park has not only the center and historic buildings but many walking trails.

Located 10 minutes from the Cincinnati airport is the Creation Museum and not much farther, the Ark Encounter. Go see a well done exhibit of the Biblical creation story looked at from both scripture and science. Or the Ark Encounter, a real life to scale model of Noah’s Ark.

Take a tour of one or many horse facilities from equine hospitals to retraining facilities to racehorse farms. 

Horse Country Tours

If you want to see the beautiful Kentucky outside of horses, Red River Gorge is just another hour east of Richmond. There are some great hiking trails and exceptional mountain views. If you go be sure to check out Miguel’s pizza.

A favorite Kentucky barbecue chain is definitely recommended if you’re looking for somewhere not far from the hotel to eat. Won’t hurt the wallet or the tastebuds. If you go for a sandwich gotta get it with toast instead of bun ;).

Second recommendation for food in Richmond is Casa, Elsie ate here almost every week during her summer and internship in Richmond!

Ever wanted to go to Bucees? Well now you can! 20 mins from the venue is Kentucky’s only Bucees! Stop for the experience stay for gas, brisket, jerky, fudge, and shopping!

On the first full day of Arroyo Family Cruise on the Disney Wish Vance proposed. After spending all day exploring Nassau, Bahamas Elsie was told everyone was going to take photos with characters in the Grand Hall. Vance told her to get dressed for dinner since we wouldn’t have time to change later and that we should wear this outfit, she didn’t question. It was only when we got to the Grand Hall and character photos turned into couple photos for the family, Kiley and Derrick’s photos took 10 seconds and ours were taking 5 minutes lol, and Elsie started noticing photos popping out aiming at us that she started to question. Then Vance tapped her shoulder, got down on one knee and said “Will you marry me?” Elsie was speechless and frozen for what felt like, according to Vance, forever before saying “Yes!” Best moment ever second to what will be the best day in June! Oblivious to what was going to happen, Elsie was excited to find out what night had the live production of The Little Mermaid on the cruise which turned out to be the same night as the proposal. So, Vance had to cancel the reservation for the fancy restaurant post proposal so Elsie could watch the play. Instead they tried multiple bars looking for availability to sit down and soak up the moment together before the show. Vance will never let her live that down haha.
