Dearest friends and family,
We are SO excited to celebrate our big day with you so soon, and we're eager for you to get to explore Fort Worth. We wanted to share some of our favorite restaurants and things to do, and we hope you'll discover for yourself how wonderful our city really is!
To start, getting from the DFW airport to Fort Worth should take about 45 minutes. Depending on the day and time you're getting in, it could take an hour to an hour and a half.
Once you're in town, here are a few places and restaurants to experience! We linked the website to the restaurant in it's name, so you can click on it and it should take you straight to their site!
The Stockyards are iconic and central part of Fort Worth's culture. We suggest allowing 2 hours to wander around as there's lots of old bars, restaurants, and western shops. If you’re thinking of dinner down there, Lonesome Dove is a great place to eat, but definitely make a reservation in advance! On any given weekend you could find us hanging around one of our favorite saloons including White Elephant Saloon or Second Rodeo--both have great drinks and even better live music.
Of course, you can also hit the iconic Fort Worth staple, Joe T. Garcia's for margaritas and Mexican food. Joe T's does not take reservations and they only take cash, so come prepared to possibly wait in line...don't worry it moves fast and you can get a pitcher of margaritas while you wait. There's also an ATM inside the restaurant, but it may be easier just to bring your own cash! Be warned, the margs are strong and can set you up for a rowdy night, even if you're not necessarily looking for one haha!
The Welcome Party is at 8:30 p.m. on Saturday at the Bowie House. If you’re arriving on Saturday and would like to go to the Stockyards, you should have plenty of time to go to the Stockyards, and wander around, have a delicious dinner and then be back for the party. It’s about a 15 minute drive each way from the hotel. We can't wait to see you in your diamonds and denim and boots and blazers 🤠
That Stockyards are quintessential Fort Worth, but If you don’t want to go that far, Hudson House on Camp Bowie Rd. is an absolute favorite. Be carful when booking, though, there is one in Dallas too so make sure you call the right one! It’s about a 5 minute drive from the hotel, with great cocktails (especially martini's) and incredible new American cuisine.
If you're in the mood for shopping, there is an open air mall, Clearfork, about 10 minutes from the hotel that has lots of good restaurants and stores. Mesero- Clearfork- is a contemporary Mexican restaurant that has great margaritas, & great food. They have a patio with outdoor misters if you’d like to sit outside. Be careful this one has multiple locations in DFW as well, so if you decide to book, make sure it's Fort Worth location. One of Chase’s favorite's is a steak restaurant at Clearfork, B&B Butchers & Restaurant. It's on the fancier side if you're looking to splurge a bit!
There is also the darling Magnolia District that is about 10 minutes in the other direction with lots of good local restaurants for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Arguably the best BBQ in Fort Worth is at Heim, which is in this area... and no need to make a reservation! We also love Lili's Bistro, and it has great live jazz music on weekends. Chase will tell you he saved my life at Lili's one time...but that's a story for another time haha! We also love Brewed for breakfast or brunch!
If you're in down town Fort Worth, we recommend Reata, it's a Fort Worth classic.
Bowie House's, Bricks and Horses, is a great option if you just want to take it easy. We would recommend making a reservation prior to your arrival for breakfast or dinner, because lots of locals outside the hotel eat there too. And trust us when we say...you will not get tired of eating Bowie House food it's that incredible.
We would say, in general make reservations now for any place you think you’d like to eat that takes them, because lots book up in advance and don’t have many options for walk ins.
We hope this information is helpful, and we can't tell you how excited we are to celebrate with you!
Our love,
Chase and Emi
