On October 3, 2015, Travis went onto OkCupid, an online dating website, and saw that a woman named Emilee from Longview, Texas had viewed his profile. When he saw her profile he was instantly attracted to her. She talked about waffles, Netflix recommendations and most importantly, Jesus. What great topics! He messaged her and she excitedly responded. After numerous never-ending conversations, Travis drove to Longview on October 24, 2015, for their first date. He showed up at Emilee's door with the first of many bouquets of pink roses (Emilee's favorite flowers). That day was the start of a fun and adventurous dating relationship that made them very familiar with I-20 between Longview and Dallas.
Fast forward to October 15, 2016, when Travis had a surprise date planned for Emilee. With very little information given to Emilee, they set out to Tyler, Texas. A few minutes prior to their destination (the Tyler Rose Garden), Travis blindfolded Emilee. When they arrived, Travis led Emilee to a gazebo, where he took the blindfold off so she could see there was a gift and a bouquet pink roses waiting for her on the bench.
Upon opening the gift, Emilee discovered a photo book that Travis had put together and had printed. They took a walk down memory lane, looking at the photos of the events and activities they did together. On the last page, it said with a question mark, "Something special happened on this day..." Travis led Emilee to the middle of the gazebo where he got down on one knee and proposed. With tears of joy in her eyes, Emilee said "Yes!"
