The Newcastle Inn feels very quintessential Maine. The rooms are comfortable, spacious, and each has its own unique charm. The inn is run by Carolyn and Liz, and they take a lot of pride in their work! About 15 minutes away from the wedding venue, it's also just a short walk from downtown Damariscotta where there are plenty of great shops and restaurants. They also offer a two-course breakfast every morning in the dining room or on their beautiful deck overlooking the Damariscotta River.
Moody's is a great option if you want an authentic Maine "up camp" experience. Moody's Diner has been a mid-coast staple for nearly 100 years, opening as a roadside diner for those traveling from Portland to Acadia National Park. The cozy, free-standing cabins sit on an open grassy hilltop just behind the diner. And while the photos online don't do them justice, they are a great option for those looking for a unique stay near the venue (about a 4-minute drive). And they're right across the street from the brewery in town, Odd Alewives.
Located just across the river from Wiscasset, Cod Cove Inn is a great option for those looking for a more typical hotel stay while still getting a taste of the Maine charm. And it's just a 20-minute drive from the venue.
Also a 20-minute drive from the venue and just down the hill from Cod Cove Inn, Sheepscot Harbour Village Resort offers a wide variety of room options, including inn-style rooms and cottages.
Recommended by Carolyn at Newcastle Inn, this is another inn with four rooms to choose from right near downtown Damariscotta.
A little over an hour to Waldoboro, Portland is a very convenient airport to fly in and out of. We recommend renting a car no matter where you fly into in order to make the most of your time in Maine. Portland is also a great place to tack on an extra night at the beginning or end of your trip!
A great airport and one of Will's favorite places to have a beer, Logan will get you into Boston and just about a three-hour drive from Waldoboro. Depending on where you're coming in from, BOS will likely be your best bet at finding a direct flight. And though it'll leave you with a bit of a drive up to Maine, you'll be able to soak in some New England sights and foliage and there's plenty of stops to break up the trip on your way. Swing by Salem for some pre-Halloween festivities. Get some fried clams and visit the trading post in Kittery. Or stop by the LL Bean Headquarters in Freeport (and pick up some beers at Maine Beer Co.).
