Circa 2004- Emi and Jacob attend North Iredell Middle School together. Despite having mutual friends and activities they probably don’t say more than ten words to each other for another 17 years!

July 2021- Jacob being Jacob and never knowing a stranger, he reaches out to Emi on Facebook to say hi and see what’s she’s been up to. Emi being Emi, she leaves him on read for a week until her sister Sara convinces her to respond and see where it goes (thanks Sara!). Emi mentions that she is working in Cary and Jacob says that small world, he is applying for a job at Cary High in two weeks! A few months later, Jacob moves from Brunswick County and winds up in Cary as well. They end up dating as adults, two and a half hours from home, when they grew up a mile down the street from one another. Isn’t God’s timing funny?

December 16th, 2023- Jacob proposes to Emi at her alma mater UNC in the Forest Theater after a wrestling tournament (but not during, because she forbade him to make a proposal sports related) with her family present. We are so blessed and excited for forever, and can’t wait to spend our most special day with all of our people!
