Emily was in her second year at Malone University studying school counseling as a Graduate Assistant and Marcus had just finished up his fifth year of basketball at Malone, as a graduate student in business.

Marcus decided to reach out to Emily and asked her to get coffee. They enjoyed getting to know each other slowly over several months. She was drawn in by his genuine love for Jesus and his family, his charming personality, and his ability to beat her at almost any competition they underwent! He adored her energy, the way she loves others--especially Jesus--and how amazing she is at EVERYTHING (his words not mine!;-)).

After a year and a half of dating, on 05.25.2024, Marcus asked Emily to marry him. She answered with an overjoyed, teary-eyed YES.
