Q + A

Where's Millarville?

About 20 minutes southwest of Calgary, in the beautiful foothills of the Rocky Mountains. The King Cabin address is: 330058 Hwy 22, Millarville, AB T0L 1K0 You can copy/paste this link to find us: https://maps.app.goo.gl/wtJq7eYunM1pCMN36

How do I get there?

We rented a shuttle to take guests from Calgary to the King Cabin on Sunday afternoon, thanks for reserving your spot with your rsvp! The bus will leave at 4:00pm sharp on Sunday. Don't be late!

I plan to have some drinks, how do I get back to Calgary?

Please DO NOT drink and drive. Shuttle busses will leave from the cabin between 10:30pm and 12:30am. They will drop you off at the Fish Creek Library in Calgary where you can grab a cab home. Note, that you are welcome and encouraged to camp out with us - but let us know ahead of time!

I plan to drive, is there parking?

We have some on-site parking, but it will fill up - if that's the case, there's plenty of overflow parking along the road. If you are drinking, please either plan to camp-out, or organize a designated driver.

What do I wear to a thing like this?

It's a cabin! It's also a wedding! Floral prints are highly encouraged for guests. We're thinking slacks and a button up floral shirt, a cute floral dress and sneakers. Please dress for the weather. If you're camping out bring a sweater, bring a coat, bring pyjamas, bring a bathing suit, bring wading sandals and sunscreen! Heels are a no-go. Think bumpy dirt paths, pebble shores, grassy lawns. Check the weather - we're dancing rain or shine!

What's to eat?

Steam Buns, Mac n' Cheese bites, and Rainbow Rolls will be served between the ceremony and dinner. Then it's time for a BBQ buffet! Beef Brisket, Fried Chicken, (Glazed Tofu for the vegetarians), Thai Salad, Squash Risotto, Dill + Feta Potatoes, and pie and ice cream for dessert. Thanks for letting us know about your dietary restrictions!

What's to drink?

Open bar! We will have beer, red/white wine, bubbles, and a signature cocktail on tap as long as supplies last.

Gifts?

None expected or required! But if feel you must - check out the registry section on this website.

What's the deal with camping?

There are 60 acres of land to camp on at the property. If you want to camp-out overnight please bring your own tent, sleeping bags, and water! You will have plenty of time to set up tents between the ceremony and dinner. Please let us know if you will camp overnight so we can plan to feed you breakfast in the morning.

I want to camp but I don't have the equipment, what do I do?

We have some extra camping gear to lend out - 1st come 1st served! There are a number of places in Calgary that will do short-term rentals of camping gear as well. Here are a few options: https://www.ucalgary.ca/ActiveLiving/registration/Rental https://www.rentehtent.com/

I don't like camping, where can I stay nearby?

There are a few hotels nearby, see the "Nearby hotels" section of this website to reserve yourself a room.

What if the weather is terrible?

We have a "Plan B" for the party - and will inform you a few days in advance if we have to move locations. Please keep an eye on your email - and hope for good weather!
