Our Wedding

Some love stories begin with a grand gesture, a whirlwind romance, or a moment straight out of a movie. Ours? It started in the hallways of high school—well, sort of. I was a goofy freshman, popular among my grade but still just another kid trying to find his way. She was Emily Carey—the athletic, confident, and effortlessly cool senior girl that every freshman boy knew and admired. She had no reason to know who I was, and at the time, I never imagined our paths would cross again. But life has a funny way of bringing people together when the timing is just right. Fast forward more than ten years. I was managing a brewery, and Emily had recently graduated from Western Michigan University, figuring out her next steps. She was looking for a job, and I was looking for good people—so I hired her as a server and bartender. Neither of us knew it at the time, but that simple decision would change everything. From the moment we started working together, something just clicked. We spent late nights at the brewery, playing pool, sharing beers, and laughing until our sides hurt. A couple of months in, it became clear—we were more than just co-workers. Then one night, Emily convinced me to go with her to a friend’s birthday shindig. That night? Game over. We were inseparable from then on. And then, as if to test our newfound relationship, the world hit pause—Covid happened. While so many things felt uncertain, one thing didn’t: us. We isolated together, and if that didn’t break us, nothing would. In fact, it only proved what we already knew—we had found something rare, something real. Over the past few years, we’ve built a life together, filled with adventure, love, and more laughter than we could have ever imagined. But what makes our love so special isn’t just the memories we’ve made—it’s the fact that, for the first time in our lives, we can be completely ourselves. No pretenses, no charades—just two people who found their better half. Now, as we stand here ready to begin the next chapter, we’re beyond grateful for every twist and turn that led us to this moment. Thank you for being part of our story—because as we lead up to the day of saying I do, we celebrate not just our love, but the incredible journey that brought us here. Here’s to forever.
