We selected the Wilmington, DE area as our wedding destination because it's halfway between Emily's family in Maryland and where we live in Brooklyn, NY. It's easily accessible from both Maryland and New York via bus, train, or rental car. The venue, Winterthur, is located in the beautiful Brandywine Valley region. The region is home to many restaurants, bars, gardens, parks, vineyards, and antique stores to explore during your stay. We hope you'll make our wedding a weekend trip to explore all that the region has to offer!
Winterthur
Winterthur is a historic estate and garden located around 20 minutes outside of Wilmington, DE and in the beautiful Brandywine Valley. Each guest will receive a complimentary weekend pass to explore the Winterthur estate and gardens during their free time. To get your free pass, just call Winterthur and mention that you're coming to the Suzuki wedding - they'll help you out!
Hotels
There are a ton of hotel and Airbnb options to choose from in downtown Wilmington. We highly recommend staying at the Hilton Homewood Suites on the waterfront, as this is where our families are staying and where the optional free shuttle bus will pick up and drop off guests on the day of the wedding. We suggest booking your hotel far in advance, as hotels in the area are popular. You can find the link to book via our room block at Homewood Suites below. Shuttle Bus
There will be an optional free shuttle bus to take guests to and from Winterthur on the day of the wedding. Pickup will be at the Hilton Homewood Suites hotel in downtown Wilmington beginning at 4:45 PM. The final run will be at 5:45 PM. Following the reception, the shuttle bus will drop off at the same location. Once your official invite arrives, please indicate how many guests in your party will be taking the shuttle bus on your response card. The Homewood Suites is in close proximity (walkable) to many other hotels in the area. We highly recommend taking the shuttle no matter where you choose to stay, as it avoids the hassle of driving and calling Ubers.
