We met the Modern Way... on a dating app. When I first downloaded the dating app, Hinge, their motto "the dating app designed to be deleted," seemed cringy and unlikely. However, little did I know that I would match with the love of my life just a few months later.
On Hinge, you can answer personal questions about yourself on your profile with hopes that these facts will act as conversation starters. Andrew had placed a game on his page, two truths and a lie. One of the items was: I have watched every season of the reality television show "Survivor". As a survivor fanatic myself, I quickly started a conversation with him about our mutual love for reality television. I quickly learned that the Survivor fact was actually his lie (LAME!), however he had watched MOST of the show's 40 seasons and we were able to move forward. Conversation with Andrew came easily and, soon afterwards, we had our first date.
It was quickly clear to us that this relationship was meant to last and we made it official on March 8th, 2020.
We have certainly grown together since then! We survived my Emergency Medicine Residency and the start of my Critical Care Fellowship. We celebrated the completion of Andrew's PhD in Theoretical Computer Science and the start of his new career as an Instructional Faculty Member, doing the things he loves best, teaching undergraduate students computer science.
On August 19th, 2023, Andrew planned a party with my close friends and proposed to me there.
...And that is how the Dr. Dr. Fitzgerald-Read-McFarland pair came to be. We cannot wait to celebrate the beginning of our lives together as a married couple with all of you on May 31st, 2025.
