We are so grateful and excited to celebrate our wedding and our future marriage with our friends and family! Please see below for some helpful suggestions regarding the wedding and traveling to Las Vegas.
What time does the wedding ceremony start?
Our wedding will take place promptly at 4:00 PM. The doors will be closed at this time and unfortunately we will be unable to accommodate any late arrivals.
What is an unplugged ceremony?
An unplugged wedding ceremony asks guests to put away their phones, tablets, and cameras during the event, allowing everyone to be fully present and focused on the couple without distractions. It creates a more intimate, serene atmosphere, ensuring a deeper connection between the couple and their guests.
What are my dinner options following the ceremony?
You will have a choice of herb roasted chicken, salmon au poivre, filet mignon, colossal lump crab cakes, crab stuffed shrimp, or ahi tuna steak at the time of our event.
Do I need a REAL ID to Fly?
Yes! Please make sure you have a REAL ID or Passport before arriving at the airport.
Best tips for new travelers?
Our number one tip is to wear comfortable shoes! You can also find Ride Shares such as Lyfts or Ubers, and they aren't super expensive, but walking will always be the cheapest! As always, before entering a Ride Share vechicle, make sure you verify the license plate and that they ask for you by name.
If you decide to take a taxi from the airport, they may ask you if you want to take "the fast way." This is a scam to get you to take the highway and a more expensive route. If you do end up on the highway, take a picture of the license plate and the taxi number and call the taxi dispatch to let them know they took you the wrong way.
You will also need sunscreen and might want to consider bringing a hat. Make sure you stay hydrated and bring water with you to walk around.
Vegas is also very safe, but it's important to stay vigilant of your surroundings just like you would in any big city. You might want to consider keeping your wallet in your front pocket and wearing cross body purses. Please make sure you don't fall for scams such as taking pictures with the "Showgirls" on The Strip (they are not real Showgirls) or the people dressed up as superheroes or characters. They will make you pay for these pictures, and it's NOT CHEAP.
You will also be most likely approached by people who will try to get you signed up for Time Shares. They will offer you tickets to free shows, etc. if you sit for their high pressure presentations. You can get them to back off by telling them it's your last day visiting and you are about to leave for the airport or even telling them you are under escrow buying a new house and cannot make any big purchases. Please do not sit through these presentations for tickets - it's not worth it and just wastes your valuable vacation time.
How can I save money on drinks and snacks?
Water, etc is very expensive in Vegas hotels. You can buy water, snacks, and even alcoholic drinks at CVS, Walgreens, and ABC stores on The Strip and downtown. Drinks are also generally complimentary on casino floors if you are actively playing slots or table games. Just make sure to tip your waitress!
What's the best way to navigate around The Strip and downtown?
The Vegas Strip is very walkable, but the distance between hotels is often much further than they appear to be. You can purchase bus tickets for The Deuce Bus for $4.00 for a single ride, $6.00 for 2 hours, $8.00 for 24 hours or $20.00 for a three day pass. The bus can take you between the casinos and downtown. This is a great, affordable option, but please remember that the buses are very crowded and the buses may be too full to stop at the bus stops. When using The Deuce, make sure that you are giving yourself plenty of time to reach your intended destination.
What are some other ways to navigate between casinos on The Strip?
There is a free tram that connects from The Bellagio to The Aria/Cosmopolitan and Park MGM. As a plus, it's air conditioned and is a nice break for your feet!
There is another tram that connects from outside The MGM Grand to the Excalibur, Luxor, and Mandalay Bay.
The Las Vegas Monorail has trains that arrive every 4-8 minutes and run from MGM Grand to the SAHARA (with access to the Horseshoe, Paris, Caesars Palace, Flamingo, The LINQ, Harrahs, boingo, and Westgate.) You can purchase tickets at https://www.lvmonorail.com.
What are some affordable food options?
Earl of Sandwich at Planet Hollywood, In-N-Out on The LINQ Promenade, Shops in Front of the Horseshoe, Shack Shake at New York New York, the food hall at the Cosmopolitan, Eataly at Park MGM, Hash House A Go Go at The LINQ (portions are HUGE) and the food court at Resorts World.
Do I need to make lunch/dinner reservations?
Yes! We suggest making reservations online as early as possible if there is any place you really want to go to. Spots fill up fast.
Do you have any recommendations for more expensive dining?
Yes! Emily's favorite spot is Jaleo in The Cosmopolitan for tapas. Kam would recommend the Bacchanal Buffet at Cesars. We also love Lago at the Bellagio for Italian, Best Friend at Park MGM for Korean Inspired Street Food, Mott 32 at the Venetian for a modern take on Cantonese, Szechuan, and Bejing cuisine (the Peking Duck is incredible), and Nobu at Cesars and Paris for Japanese Tapas.
