Overlook Hotsprings is another great place to soak. They have a variety of different hot springs and a rooftop deck. Overlook has more of a bath house, old school vibe compared to the Springs Resort.
Want to soak in a natural hot spring but don't want to pay the resort fee? Go to the free hotsprings on the river right in town. There are two free hotspring locations:
River Hotsprings:
Park on main street in town across from the Rose. Walk down to the path along the river and you will see people in the hotsprings and playing in the river. They are great to soak in!
The "Hippie Dip" Hotsprings:
Park in the small parking lot across from Healing Waters hotsprings. Walk down to the river and right under the bridge there are a couple of different pools to soak in. These are our favorites!

Float through beautiful Pagosa Springs on the San Juan River! You can rent a tube and receive shuttle service through Pagosa Outside Adventure.
Ski & Bow partners with local landowners to provide some of the finest fishing opportunities in southwest Colorado. They lease more than five miles of private water on the upper San Juan River; this stretch offers a variety of both natural and man-made structure, giving anglers an opportunity to catch trophy rainbows, browns, & cutthroats! They also lease several private ponds, perfect for beginners and still-water junkies alike.
Williams Creek Reservoir is one of our favorite hang out spots! You can rent paddle boards at Ski and Bow Rack and have yourself a day by the water.

Take a scenic drive from Pagosa > Durango > Silverton! This can be done in a day, as Pagosa > Silverton is two hours. You will drive over Molas pass from Durango into Silverton and see absolutely stunning views. If you have extra time, continue on through Silverton and take the million dollar highway into Ouray. Rent an ATV and ride high in the mountains at 12,620 ft. to see some of Colorado's tallest and most gorgeous mountains. You can also take a jeep, 4Runner, or other off-road capable vehicles. Riding on Cinnamon Pass is not for the faint-of-heart but is one of our favorite things we've done in Silverton!

Ride on the scenic railway from Durango > Silverton to take in gorgeous views through the mountain. This is an 8 hour excursion, so plan for a full day of adventure! We've never ridden the railroad, but heard that it moves pretty slow.
Go on a leisurely hike alongside the Piedra River. This hike is rated Easy and the trail goes for as long as you'd like. You can go down a small side trail to hang out by the water. There are also day-use picnic sites across the street from the parking lot.
Enjoy this .5 mile hike to the Piedra Falls. The trail-head is easily accessible by car and the hike is short and easy to the waterfalls.
Enjoy this short hike down to Sheep Creek natural hot springs! This hike is 2.8 miles round trip. The hike starts by going downhill all the way to the river and hot springs, which means you will climb about 615 ft. up on your way back to your car. This is an easy hike but will definitely get your heart pumping! The natural hot spring pools are hot and relaxing.
Summit Alberta Peak on this 5.8 mile round-trip hike at our very favorite Ski Area, Wolf Creek. This trail takes you to the top of Alberta Peak with an elevation gain of 1,187 ft. The end of the trail is rocky and steep, but anyone with a great sense of adventure can summit Alberta! Look for lots of flowers and wildlife on this trail.
Head out on this 0.7 mile hike to the gorgeous Treasure Falls! This trail is an easy climb up 216 ft. This trail is right off highway 160 and is typically crowded with tourists but is well worth the view!
This hike is only 2.3 miles round trip through gorgeous Aspen Tree groves to a beautiful opal colored lake. The trail-head to this hike is in the Blanco Basin, the same basin that we are getting married in!
Hike to this gorgeous blue lake outside of South Fork! This is a 7.6 mile round-trip hike through gorgeous alpine mountains to Crater Lake. If you are interested in hiking this trail, make sure you take Park Creek Road outside of South Fork and not East Fork outside of Pagosa. This is one of our favorite trails in the area!
Hike to the top of the mountain ridge on this gorgeous hike! It is a 5.8 mile round-trip hike with 1,345 ft of elevation gain. This hike is steep and not for the faint of heart, but the views and wildflowers are some of the best in the area!
Looking for a big full-day hike? This is the one! This is the same trail as the Quartz Ridge Trail, but you keep hiking for another 2.5 miles to Quartz Lake. This is a 10.2 mile hike with 2,860 ft. of elevation gain. This is a long, tough hike but the wildflowers and views are well worth it!
This undiscovered gem is an intimate, off-the-beaten-path archaeological site located at the southern edge of the San Juan Mountains in Southwestern Colorado. You’ll walk in the footsteps of the fascinating and enigmatic Ancestral Puebloans of the Chaco Canyon, following primitive pathways that haven’t changed for 1,000 years. Archaeological structures and artifacts, abundant wildlife, and its setting in the breathtaking San Juan National Forest make Chimney Rock a must-see.
Mesa Verde National Park is just an hour west of Durango. Mesa Verde is known for its beautiful mesas, cliff dwellings, and petroglyphs.
