Our Wedding

Our story began all the way back in 2012, when we were in seventh grade! Our first memories of each other are rooted in church, where we both attended the same Sunday School class. Every Sunday morning, we’d steal a glance at the others’ families, secretly hoping to see the other person there. Little did we know, this was the beginning of something special. Through middle school and high school, we shared a close friendship. We began a cycle of texting nonstop, and then would go through weeks of silence. We weren’t the most confrontational kids, in fact, we were both more awkward than we’d like to admit. Being too shy to confess our feelings to each other, this cycle lasted for years! After high school graduation in 2017, our paths took different directions: Juan joined the U.S. Air Force, and Emily began her studies at UT Knoxville. Despite the miles between them, they stayed connected, and after years of friendship, Emily decided that the time had finally come to take the leap. She reached out to Juan in March of 2022, planting the seed of a future together—one that, of course, included each other. This was the moment that our journey truly began. Our first year of dating was spent long distance, with Juan stationed in Arizona and Emily starting her career in Tennessee. Eight months of texts, phone calls, and plane rides later, Emily made the bold decision to move to Arizona to be closer to Juan. But just before she received her job offer, Juan was deployed to Qatar. Despite the challenge, Emily moved to Arizona, embracing a new adventure and making new friends along the way. Then came a big surprise: Juan came home two months early! We’ve been inseparable ever since. We moved into our first home in August of 2023, and in August of 2024 Juan proposed! After 12 years of friendship, patience, and love, we can’t wait to begin the next chapter of our lives—together, forever!

Our Story

Nuestra historia comenzó en 2012, cuando estábamos en séptimo grado. Nuestros primeros recuerdos mutuos se remontan a la iglesia, donde ambos asistíamos a la misma clase de la escuela dominical. Todos los domingos por la mañana, mirábamos a las familias de los demás, con la secreta esperanza de ver al otro allí. Lo que no sabíamos es que ese era el comienzo de algo especial. Durante la escuela secundaria y la preparatoria, compartimos una estrecha amistad. Comenzamos un ciclo de mensajes de texto sin parar y luego pasamos por semanas de silencio. No éramos los niños más conflictivos; de hecho, ambos éramos más incómodos de lo que nos gustaría admitir. Como éramos demasiado tímidos para confesar nuestros sentimientos, ¡este ciclo duró años! Después de graduarnos de la escuela secundaria en 2017, nuestros caminos tomaron direcciones diferentes: Juan se unió a la Fuerza Aérea de los EE. UU. y Emily comenzó sus estudios en UT Knoxville. A pesar de los kilómetros que los separaban, se mantuvieron conectados y, después de años de amistad, Emily decidió que finalmente había llegado el momento de dar el salto. Emily se puso en contacto con Juan en marzo de 2022 y plantó la semilla de un futuro juntos, uno que, por supuesto, los incluía a ambos. Ese fue el momento en el que realmente comenzó nuestro viaje. Nuestro primer año de noviazgo transcurrió a distancia, con Juan destinado en Arizona y Emily comenzando su carrera en Tennessee. Ocho meses de mensajes de texto, llamadas telefónicas y viajes en avión después, Emily tomó la audaz decisión de mudarse a Arizona para estar más cerca de Juan. Pero justo antes de recibir su oferta de trabajo, Juan fue enviado a Qatar. A pesar del desafío, Emily se mudó a Arizona, abrazó una nueva aventura y hizo nuevos amigos en el camino. Luego llegó una gran sorpresa: ¡Juan volvió a casa dos meses antes! Desde entonces somos inseparables. Nos mudamos a nuestra primera casa en agosto de 2023 y, en agosto de 2024, ¡Juan le propuso matrimonio! Después de 12 años de amistad, paciencia y amor, estamos ansiosos por comenzar el próximo capítulo de nuestras vidas: ¡juntos, para siempre!
