Emily and Austin met for the first time on July 3^rd, 2015 when he and his mother came to pick up some friends then headed to the Red, White and Boom Columbus fireworks downtown. The two immediately hit it off and spent the day talking and getting to know one another. At the grand finale of the fireworks, Austin mustered up the courage to kiss Emily for the first time. The next day, Emily left Ohio for a trip with her mom to San Francisco. While they both tried to play it cool and act hard to get, Emily and Austin quickly fell in love. In the weeks that followed, they explored Columbus and went on many adventures until finally making the leap to move to Austin, Texas together in July 2016.

Austin and Emily fell in love with their new home when they went for a hike in the beautiful Austin, Texas Greenbelt in January 2016. To propose, Austin brought Emily to one of their favorite hiking spots. Austin led her to a secluded spot (that he secretly picked out a couple weeks before hand!) alongside the creek. He asked Emily to climb up on a rock so he could take a picture of her. When she turned around for the photo, Austin was down on one knee with the ring! She, of course, said yes. They then shared their first kiss as fiancés and later went out for a surprise dinner with their families to celebrate!
