Emily and Austin met for the first time on July 3rd, 2015 when he and his mother came to pick up some friends then headed to the Red, White and Boom Columbus fireworks downtown. The two immediately hit it off and spent the day talking and getting to know one another. At the grand finale of the fireworks, Austin mustered up the courage to kiss Emily for the first time. The next day, Emily left Ohio for a trip with her mom to San Francisco. While they both tried to play it cool and act hard to get, Emily and Austin quickly fell in love. In the weeks that followed, they explored Columbus and went on many adventures until finally making the leap to move to Austin, Texas together in July 2016.

How They Met

Austin and Emily fell in love with their new home when they went for a hike in the beautiful Austin, Texas Greenbelt in January 2016. To propose, Austin brought Emily to one of their favorite hiking spots. Austin led her to a secluded spot (that he secretly picked out a couple weeks before hand!) alongside the creek. He asked Emily to climb up on a rock so he could take a picture of her. When she turned around for the photo, Austin was down on one knee with the ring! She, of course, said yes. They then shared their first kiss as fiancés and later went out for a surprise dinner with their families to celebrate!

Embark on a kayak tour along the mighty Colorado River and marvel at the Congress Avenue Bridge, which is home to the world's largest urban colony of bats. A professional guide, lots of fascinating commentary, and epic city views make for an unforgettable experience.
Head to the tour office on Riverside Drive and listen to a brief safety orientation before walking a short distance to the river and boarding your kayak. Dip your paddle into the sparkling water and propel yourself peacefully along, taking in views of the downtown Austin skyline.
Soak up local history and sweeping city views on your way to the immense Congress Avenue Bridge, which is a popular hangout for bats. Thousands of these shadowy creatures nestle beneath the bridge every day before taking flight around sunset. Admire this stunning sight as the sun sinks low in the sky before your experience comes to an end.

Looking for fun family things to do in the Austin area? Enjoy up-close views of jellyfish, sharks, and reptiles at the Austin Aquarium. With a variety of aquatic life and even interactive experiences like feeding stingrays, the aquarium introduces children to the world beneath the ocean’s surface.
Here, you are encouraged to hand feed stingrays, fish, and birds like lorikeets. Get a chance to see sharks, a Giant Pacific Octopus, crocodiles, and colorful corals. As you get to know the world beneath the ocean's surface, admire jellyfish moving gracefully through the water and get up close with many of the reptiles and other animals on exhibit.
As you make your way through the Austin Aquarium, learn about animals and their ecosystems. Explore both above and below the water's surface as you see exhibits including sea horses, iguanas, crocodiles, lorikeets, and parakeets, and thousands of other species.

Paddle through the waters of Lady Bird Lake, scoping out views of downtown Austin's skyline, visiting quiet islands, and cruising past parks that line this sealed section of the Colorado River. Along the way, explore secluded beaches perfect for a refreshing swim and snap photos of native wildlife.

Pick up your kayak on the shores of Lady Bird Lake, a manmade reservoir that helps supply Austin with drinking water and prevent flooding of the Colorado River. Get fitted for a paddle, life jacket, and a kayak as experienced rental staff chat about proper paddling technique and offer tips on different places you can check out.

Enjoy the freedom to explore Lady Bird Lake at your leisure. You might drift to the quiet shores of Snake Island, whose name thankfully has little to do with its character, check out Barton Springs Pool, or look for Mexican free-tailed bats under the Congress Avenue Bridge. At the end of your rental time, point your bow back to the tour office and wrap up your paddling adventure.

Executive chef John Lichtenberger brings that same tailored focus to the food menu, providing rich French fare made with the freshest ingredients.Our favorite cocktail bar and happy hour spot. $5 drinks and half off cheeseburgers in the heart of downtown. We plan to be there Thursday night before the wedding&nbsp;with anyone in town early.

The gardens are on parkland that is magnificently endowed by nature with handsome trees, natural grottoes and aquatic features that have been integrated into a design of spectacular beauty and tranquility.

Natural serenity is the underlying theme of the&nbsp;UMLAUF Sculpture Garden&nbsp;& Museum, located in Austin, Texas. Native plants grow vibrantly amidst the sculptures passed along to the city by artist and sculptor Charles Umlauf. This unique and distinctive garden makes an ideal spot for a wedding ceremony and reception.
