Emily and Andy met like many millennials do these days: on a dating app. The pair matched in November of 2021 and finally made plans for a first date on March 10th, 2022, at Rosalita's Cantina in downtown St. Louis.
Andy remembers Emily walking into the restaurant in 3" heels and thinking, "Damn... I hope she doesn't care that I'm shorter than her". Emily remembers walking into the restaurant, seeing Andy already seated at a booth near the door and thinking "Damn... I hope he doesn't care that I'm late." As it turned out, neither of them cared and they went on to have a lovely evening of banter and laughter followed by an awkward hug and a promise to text soon after they parted ways. It was after that date that Andy knew this would be different. Emily was still on the fence.
That following weekend, Emily went out with some friends and invited a boy she had been on a couple dates with to join them. When he wasn’t available, she invited Andy. The evening ended in his living room, which he had scrambled to clean just hours earlier while Emily waited outside for exactly 10 minutes. It was there that they sat and talked into the wee hours of the morning, and where Emily fell both asleep, and in love.
When Emily woke up, neatly tucked under a blanket on the same couch she fell asleep on, (now with a large, fluffy dog licking her face) she knew this was different too.
