met in the summer of 2021, when they were jointly celebrating Emily's stepsister Lindsay's graduation. Lucas had known Lindsay throughout their high school years, and thankfully, that friendship led him to meeting Emily. After a few months of seeing each other in group settings, Lucas and Emily went on their first date to get Italian food, and the two have been inseparable ever since. They both share a love for quality time and laughter, so most days are spent together with a shared meal, cheering on their favorite MN sports team, or catching each other up on their exciting daily updates. Lucas and Emily are both great listeners and have a great sense of humor, so when Lucas popped "the question" on May 17th, 2024, Emily couldn't wait to say yes to her perfect match. ❤ We are so excited to celebrate the next step in "our story" in September 2025 and can't wait to have our favorite people by our side for a weekend of love, laughter, and lifelong memories.

Murray and Emily met during their freshman year of college and quickly hit it off. From there, they became roommates and best friends, laughing the days away, spending plenty of nights out on the town, and being there for each other through all of life's biggest moments. Murray moved to Minneapolis after college where Emily and she worked together in recruiting and were next-door neighbors at their apartment complex! Luckily, for the Groom, being neighbors meant she and Lucas started their friendship as well. Through the years, the MOH has been the Bride's sounding board, source of laughter and fun, and biggest cheerleader. ❤

Cole and Lucas have been good friends since 5th grade and have been best friends since senior year of high school. Lucas and Cole both attended UMD together and lived together from sophomore to senior year, experiencing all the fun (and sometimes dumb) things guys do in college. Post grad, Lucas was always the tag along to all things that Cole and his wife Sam were up to... until he met Emily. Eventually, Cole and Sam would be two of the friends that helped bring the Bride and Groom together! Cole is the funniest person Lucas knows, and never fails to make him cry from laughing too hard.

Lucky for Emily, Jess has been by her side since they were playing WAA soccer together at age 5, through middle and high school, and as they both decided to attend UNL together. Their friendship grew to the point it is today as they left home and navigated college life together. Jess has the biggest heart and has always been a role model for Emily. She consistently emulates what it means to a be loving and caring friend, wife, and new mom! Our wedding wouldn't be complete without Jessica's contagious smile and positive spirit! ❤

Cade and Lucas met during their freshman year at UMD and quickly became great friends. Cade and Lucas lived together sophomore year through senior year of college, then sadly returned home following graduation. However, they weren't sick of each other or the Jack's Pizza diet yet and they successfully found two more buddies to lease a house with for two more years. Cade is one of the Groom's most easygoing and fun friends, and we're so glad he will be a part of our day. P.s. if you want to be roomies again, give us a call.

Em and Abby have been best friends since they met in middle school! Abby brings the most positive energy to every situation, is so fun to travel and laugh with, and is one of Emily's favorite people. They have always been by each other's sides - like sisters, supporting one another as they navigate each of life's challenges. In November 2024, Emily got to stand by Abby as she married her loving husband, and she is so happy Abby will be next to her in September! Little Abs and Em would be so proud of how far we've come. ❤

Sam and Lucas lived on the same floor their freshman year of college, but their friendship started in their junior year when Sam asked Lu if he wanted to join their intramural frisbee team. Not only do Sam and Lucas share the same hobbies like fishing, golfing, and playing softball, but in 2023, Lucas was a groomsman in Sam's wedding as he married his wife, Hannah! We're so grateful for his continued friendship and support through the years, and we're even happier that he will be by our side in 2025!

The Emily's serendipitously met on college move-in day as they were next door neighbors in the dorms! Thankfully, they stayed friends and became roommates their junior and senior years of college. EmStef has always looked up to EmF because she exudes knowledge and confidence, has a great sense of humor, and wears her heart on her sleeve. Through the years, the Bride has gotten to cheer her bestie on as she's graduated law school, moved to Washington DC, and blossomed into the loving person she is today. She's so happy that a wonderful person like Emily will be standing by her side as she marries the love of her life. ❤

Kaleb is Lucas's first friend. It all started when Lucas started attending Kaleb's mom's daycare, where they'd play castle guys in the basement and sharks and minnows in the pool. Fast forward to a few years later, and the duo was tackling elementary through high school together. Over the years, Kaleb has always been there for Lucas and is the true definition of a forever friend. The Bride and Groom are so blessed to have such a kind and caring person like Kaleb in their lives.

Brooky is Em's little sister and best friend. She proudly wears the title of family favorite and is equal parts hilarious and loving. The two are peas in a pod, sharing the same music taste, they always look to one another for life advice, and are always giggling. As her little sister has grown up, Emily has had the chance to watch B grow into a lovely young woman who advocates for others, values friendship, and is the life of the party. Over the last few years, it's been especially touching to watch Brooklyn and Lucas become friends, as she trusts him to be a caring big brother in her life. The Bride and Groom are so glad Brooky will be a part of their special day. ❤

Over the years, there have been countless memories with AG and Lucas. They grew up playing basketball and baseball together and have always been good friends. From nights at the Gorres' family house in high school, through college at UMD, and finally into adulthood, Aaron and Lucas have maintained a strong friendship founded on trust and fun. Over the past few years, Lucas got to stand by Aaron as he married his wife, Molly, and has watched him grow into an amazing father to their son Louis! Our day wouldn't be complete without AG and we're so glad he will be there to celebrate the start of our next chapter.

Jena is the Groom's little sister, and thankfully for Emily, she is a wonderful friend and future sister-in-law. In the past year, Jena and her boyfriend Hunter bought a house together and welcomed chocolate lab, Stella, to the fam! Emily and Lucas love having their siblings close by to start traditions like family dinner nights, bonfires, and pickleball tournaments. Through the years, Jena has continued to be a cheery and bright light in the Fossum family, and Emily is so lucky to have her by her side through wedding planning, on the big day, and every day after that! ❤

Will is the bride's older brother and has quickly become one of Lucas's close friends. Fun fact, after Lu and Em had their first date, the first person she told about the night was Will and his wife Hannah! The rest has been history... coming from a family full of sisters, Will loves having Lucas to hang out with, talk sports, and balance the excitement that comes with blended families. Lucas is grateful for the fun times they've spent at the cabin together and looks forward to officially having a brother.

Taylor and Emily met throughout their freshman sorority pledging, where they would eventually become roommates and besties. Taylor's friendship has always been one that Emily holds close to her heart, as she's watched Taylor continuously evolve into an empowering woman over the years. Taylor is a thoughtful, well-spoken, servant leader who makes us so proud to know and love her. She is also a loving wife and friend. Emily and Lucas are so thankful to have a dear friend, and role model, marry them on September 13th, 2025! ❤

Thankfully, Carly and Emily's paths crossed in their first jobs post-grad. Befriending Carly has been one of Emily's favorite parts of living in MN, as she's always taking her to new restaurants and events in the Twin Cities! Over the last few years, nights spent together with their friends are always marked with plenty of laughter and labeled as Emily's favorite memories. Carly is an extremely thoughtful and understanding friend and Emily is so thrilled to have her guidance and support as she marries Lucas. ❤

Casey is one of Emily's sorority sisters and best friends. In college, Emily fondly remembers the silly adventures she'd take Casey on to keep each day interesting and maintain the fun dynamic of their friendship. The two have always balanced each other out, acting as sounding boards for each other, and trusting one another, through it all. Casey is an excellent listener and always provides Emily with the honest perspective she needs to hear! Emily is so glad that Casey, and her bubbling personality, will be a part of this special day. 🥂

Stina was one of Emily's mentors at work, who quickly turned into one of her closest friends. Over the years, Stina and Em have bonded over a love of good food and drink, a new puzzle, and cozy nights filled with giggles. The two share a love for connecting with people and experiencing the world through travel. Emily is so grateful to have Stina in her life, as she brings joy and laughter to all, and she's even happier that Stina will help welcome all of the lovely guests on wedding day!🥂

Hunter is dating Jena, Lucas's little sister, and ever since she introduced Hunter and Lucas, they've been best buds. They share similar interests like ice fishing and hunting, the MN Vikings and Wild, and enjoying a few garage beers to cap off the evening. Hunter always has a smiling face at every event, and we're so happy he'll be one of the friendly faces welcoming our guests on the big day!

Our cabin block will open on October 7th, 2024, and close on July 30th, 2025. You will need to call the office at (218) 847-7638 to book your stay for the weekend, or for Saturday the 13th. After July 30th, 2025, the discounted room rate of $119/person/night (+ taxes/fees) will end, and there will not be guaranteed cabin space available on the property, as all remaining cabins will then be open to the public.&nbsp;There is another wedding on Friday September 12th, so cabin space will be more available on Saturday for folks who do not plan to stay for the whole weekend! There are a variety of cabin styles and sizes, most suited for a couple or group of four. Most units are freestanding cabins ranging from 1-4 bedrooms. A few units are set-up motel style and have connecting rooms for larger groups to maintain privacy and still remain close. If you intend to stay with another couple or group, be sure to mention this when coordinating with the Fair Hills team! All guests will have a complementary breakfast buffet included with their stay for Saturday and Sunday morning. Their cabins are all fully modern and comfortable. For large groups, they assign one cabin per family and keep you as close (or as far) as you’d like to be together at the resort. The resort is not so large that you can’t walk from one end to the other in less than two minutes, otherwise, you can book a golf cart for your on-site weekend transportation mode!

For guests looking for a more traditional hotel experience, the Fairfield Inn and Suites is a great option. It is in the center of Detroit Lakes, just a few block walk to Lake Detroit's beach, restaurants, and shops!

Another great hotel option is the Best Western on Lake Detroit. You will have direct lakefront access to the lake, modern hotel amenities, and be staying right off of HWY 10 in Detroit Lakes.

We know that guests will be traveling from numerous states, with some having to fly to us, and we can't say thank you enough for making the journey to celebrate our love! For those flying and renting a car, Fair Hills Resort is one hour from the Fargo airport (Code - FAR), and 3.5 hours from the Minneapolis-St. Paul airports (Code - MSP). There is parking on site for all guests nearby to your assigned cabin.

After touring Fair Hills, Lucas and Emily realized that it was a perfect venue, as it has a little bit of everything they love on property! There are plenty of activities on-site, including pickleball and tennis courts, sand volleyball, basketball, shuffleboard, a swimming pool and hot tub, a bar, a 'high dive', paddle boards, canoes, and kayaks, all included with your stay.

Lucas and Em's favorite spot to grab a bite and a hazy IPA, right on Lake Detroit. Enjoy a walk on the public beach, or stop by some of the local souvenir shops while you're in town!

Lakeside Tavern & Brewery

Take a stroll through Vergas, MN, home to the World's Largest Loon, Billy's Corner Bar, and the elusive "Hairy Man" Sasquatch. Emily's family roots tie to the early days of Vergas, as her maternal grandfather, Roger, had his grandparents settle there in the early 1900s. The Brooks family still spends summers here, enjoying ice cream, scary stories, and laughter on the lake.

Wildflower Golf Course is across the street from our resort, and you can even take your golf cart with you to play 9 or 18 holes! There is also a 9-hole executive course on the Fair Hills property that you are welcome to play.

Enjoy a little hiking and tour of the area by visiting the different wooden troll locations that were built by a Danish artist and transported to DL last summer!
