As in all modern-day love stories, Adam and Emily met when they both swiped right. After a few weeks of messaging and texting, they finally decided to meet up for breakfast in Kent on August 11th, 2018. What was planned as a simple get to know each other first date over breakfast quickly turned into a 13-hour date. Neither wanted the day to end, so that casual breakfast turned into a walk, lunch, drinks, and some McDonald’s to cap off the night. All in all they walked about 8 miles!

At the time, Adam was a graduate of Kent State University, which made for a perfect match with Emily, also a Kent State graduate. As luck would have it, both had plans to attend grad school at Kent. Emily, to further her teaching career, and Adam to further his career with higher education at Kent State.

Between differing work and school schedules, Adam and Emily maximized their time together, spending weekends playing board games with their morning coffee, watching football, and going to the movies. In 2020, when everyone had to shelter-in-place, Emily did a soft move in with Adam, and together they weathered the worst of lockdown. Those who quarantine together, stay together. Officially, in September 2020, they moved in together.

From there, talks of marriage and proposals quickly began. Both Adam and Emily were finishing their Master’s degrees, and after Adam finished he started looking for a new position on campus. Adam graduated in May 2021 and started working at a new, fulfilling job in December 2021. Emily graduated with her Master’s in May of 2022 and has continued teaching.

After a summer of anticipation, on August 11th, 2022, Adam and Emily went to Squire’s Castle in the North Chagrin Reservation in the Cleveland Metroparks. They walked some of the trails, and eventually made their way to the castle itself. After what seemed like hours waiting for others to leave the Castle and give them some privacy Adam proposed to Emily. She said yes, and the rest is history. They cannot wait to spend their wedding with all of you!
