Our Story

Our Love Story

Picture of Our Love Story

Dalton and I's love story is a unique one, so let's start from the very beginning...middle school.

I was in track and was helping one of the boys track meets in Indianola, IA. I would have to attend track meets where local schools also competed. This meet was at Simpson College and as I was walking to the high jump, I passed a blonde boy who smiled at me. My 13 year-old self immediatly feel in love (middle school love of course) and had to find this boy on social media. I scoured Instagram and stopped at each Urbandale blonde boys page. I finally found Dalton's and gave it a follow. He followed me right back but nothing went from there. We liked each other's images for years after this.

Transitioning into high school, Dalton and I were both in a school club called DECA. It was focused on business and how that industry works. Each year there were events for Des Moines and suburb schools to attend to learn more about DECA and participate in competitions. Dalton swears we saw me at one of these events but was too scared to introduce himself. He recognized me from Instgram but still...nothing happened between us.

Now, finally we are both in college. I attended Iowa State University and he went to University of Iowa. Of course, these teams play each other in football once a year and during a tailgate party, we bumped into each other. Dalton, now at the age of 21, finally had the guts to asks for my Snapchat (it's a Gen z thing to do this instead of a number lol). But our story ends here because all though he had contact info, he did not reach back out.

Now, it's July of 2020. Dalton is graduated living with his parents, I am in Ames about to start my Junior year of college. One night, I see Dalton Nelson is typing... my heart drops and I am anxious to see what this could be. I open it and HE FINALLY ASKS ME ON A DATE. Our first date consisted of movies, cuddling and that's it. He leaves by asking if he can kiss me and I hesitantly say yes and that is when I knew I was going to marry this man.

We continue seeing each other for 3 more weeks and on July 22nd, he asks me to be his girlfriend! We've been inseparable ever since. :) But now that we are dating we start talking about these past times we ran into each other. Come to find out, he was never in track when I was managing and I never saw him at Simpson College! But I just thought I did because the boy I found on Instagram was cute, blonde and I had to know him. Who knows if I hadn't scoured Instagram to find him, we may never be living together in a beautiful Des Moines home with two little kitties about to get married and spend the rest of our lives together. 💜

We can't wait for you all to join us in May!
