Things to Do

Outdoor activities, sightseeing, shopping and eating

Hiking, running, walking, or biking in or near Bend:

Shevlin Park: Between downtown and the wedding venue, this park has good walking, easy biking, and running trails. Part of the trail runs along Tumalo Creek. Some routes are paved and relatively flat, while others climb in and out of the valley on trail. Good views of the mountains from the top section. https://www.bendparksandrec.or...

First Street Rapids trail: This trail runs along the Deschutes river and is right in town. It is a good walking or running trail. https://www.bendparksandrec.or...

Deschutes river trail canyon reach: Located from Farewell Bend Park through the South Canyon, this section features trail on both sides of the Deschutes River connected by a footbridge approximately 1.5 miles upstream of the Farewell Bend Park bridge. On this seemingly instant escape from the hustle and bustle of Bend’s activity, you’ll enjoy traveling alongside the Deschutes River as it rushes through a beautiful canyon, cascading over rocks and logs.https://www.bendparksandrec.or...

Tumalo Falls: This is the tallest and most beautiful waterfall on Tumalo Creek near Bend, Oregon, but it isn't the creek's only waterfall. If you like seeing water tumble, go beyond the half mile round trip hike to Tumalo Falls and explore the grander 7.4 mile loop that visits half dozen other named waterfalls and perhaps more unnamed smaller waterfalls and cascades. https://www.oregonhikers.org/f...

Phil's trails for mountain biking: Located just about 7 miles out of town, Phil’s Trail is also where you will find more beginner trails like Ben’s, Marvin’s Garden, and Kent’s, with connections to the more advanced Lair and Voodoo. Therefore, Phil’s is a great place to learn how to mountain bike or get a great an introduction to the riding in the area. There are several shops that rent mountain bikes in town. https://www.cogwild.com/mounta...

Outdoor adventures outside of Bend:

The Cascade Lakes Highway is one of the most beautiful places in Oregon. It is a beautiful drive if you want to see the views of the Cascade mountains. One of my favorite hikes off the highway is the Green Lakes trail. See: http://www.hikecentraloregon.c... If the weather cooperates you can also try to summit the South Sister, but this is a fairly difficult hike.

Smith Rocks is a world class climbing destination with great trails and miles of hiking and mountain biking trails, featuring the meandering Crooked River and views of the volcanic peaks of Oregon’s Cascade Range. Along your trip through the canyon, you might see golden eagles, prairie falcons, mule deer, river otter and beaver. http://www.hikecentraloregon.c...
