My freshman year English class consisted of one large project where I had to observe a group on or around campus once a week. As a freshman this was a very daunting, long, difficult project so I decided to observe the cheer team thanks to one of my dad's friends who worked in athletics (thanks Dave!). I went around once a week to practices and took notes on their interactions. I hit a point where I needed to do interviews for more information so I talked to my great friend Becca Paluso who was a sorority sister and cheerleader. She gave me everybody's contacts, and I picked some random ones to text for interviews. One of those happened to be Jathan. After asking for an interview and interviewing him he constantly texted me saying he was "bored". Within 3 days of the interview he asked me to go watch a movie and I didn't realize it was a date. It obviously went well and the rest is history!

She Stalked me!!! Just kidding. One day when I was at cheer practice, Coach Coco introduced some girl named Emily to all of us because she had to write some kind of paper and needed to observe us. So after coming to multiple practices, I noticed how attractive and beautiful she was. Naturally, I told Dannis, Matt, and Brandon that I had dibs (and as you can tell by now it worked). When Emily was nearing the completion of her paper, she had to interview some of us to complete her paper. She decided to text random numbers of people from the team which she got from her friend on the cheer team Becca Paluso. Luckily I was one of those numbers. So naturally, I bugged the crap out of her since I now had her phone number and smooth talked my way into a date with her. we saw Madeas Boo 2 and we were the only people watching that movie. But overall, date 1 led to many more, and now we're getting married!!!

For New Years Eve of 2020 we had planned to go visit Emily's friends in Jefferson City Missouri to celebrate the end of the year. Little did Emily know what Jathan had up his sleeve. He drove into Cape super early while she went to go get her nails done with her mom, so that he could ask her dad's permission before he asked her. We then drove up to Jefferson city and met up with our friends and got ready to go to the winery we normally visit and go to dinner. We got to the winery, ordered our normal wine, and went to the patio to take pictures where we always do. When we went to take a couples picture, Jathan said that he would take a picture as long as we could do a funny photo after. He pretended to jump on her back and when she turned around because he hadn't jumped, he was on one knee. If you have seen the video you know how many tears followed that. Emily said yes and we celebrated the night with our friends, some good food, and starting off 2021 with the happiest of hearts.
