Traveling to Lawrence?

Though Jake and Emily's love story started at Shawnee Mission South High School in Overland Park, their relationship bloomed in the city of Lawrence, where Jake moved after graduation. Their memories here comprise everything from their first dates downtown in 2016 to lazy Saturday mornings at the farmers market in 2024.

Whether it's your first time in Lawrence or you're a frequent visitor seeking new adventures, we've got you covered!

Wheatfields Bakery Cafe

904 Vermont St, Lawrence, KS 66044, USA
(785) 841-5553

Located kitty-corner from Jake and Emily's reception venue at the Carnegie Building, you'll definitely want to stop by Wheatfields for a cappuccino and a fresh-baked loaf of bread. They say you can't find better baguettes anywhere else. We hope we never have to find out!

Wonder Fair

841 Massachusetts St, Lawrence, KS 66044, USA
(785) 856-3247

Dubbed "Print Palace of the Great Plains," Wonder Fair is home to art supplies, stationery, prints, gifts, and much more. A trip downtown is never complete without a stop at Wonder Fair. Shop for new craft supplies, grab a goofy gift and meet Dave, the handsome orange shop cat.

Espurresso Cat Cafe

1014 Massachusetts St, Lawrence, KS 66044, USA
(785) 856-0553

Be sure to reserve your visit online!

If you love cats as much as we do, then Espurresso is a must-visit. Opened in 2023, this small cafe is a temporary home to cats awaiting adoption from the Lawrence Humane Society. Allergic? No problem. The cafe area is separately walled and ventilated from the cat room. In order to visit the cats, you'll want to reserve a time slot online before arriving, so plan ahead!

Game Nut Entertainment

2329 Iowa St space m, Lawrence, KS 66047, USA
(785) 856-8770

This is a Jake-centric recommendation, to be sure, but a list of our favorite things would be amiss without board games! Game Nut has two locations in Lawrence: one downtown on Massachusetts St. and a larger store on Iowa St. We're partial to the larger selection on Iowa St, but if you're as serious about board games as Jake, you'll have no problem visiting both.

Mass Street Soda & Sweets

1103 Massachusetts St, Lawrence, KS 66044, USA
(785) 615-0482

We cannot overstate how much we love Mass Street Soda. The proof is in our engagement photos! Organized by flavor, Mass Street Soda is perfect for the pop adventurer who wants to try anything and everything. Grape soda? Orange soda? How basic! Why not try a pear, yuzu, or lychee? Not weird enough? They've got special, limited-edition sodas too. And if you're still not impressed, Mass Street Soda has even weirder stuff, like Butter or Ranch-flavored soda... Well, just because they offer everything doesn't mean you should try everything. Drink at your own risk!

Spencer Museum of Art

1301 Mississippi St, Lawrence, KS 66045, USA

This is our favorite museum in Lawrence. If you're looking to unplug and relax in the presence of beautiful art, this is the spot. Free parking is available on the first level of the Mississippi Street Garage next to the Kansas Union from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily.

Memorial Carillon and Campanile

Memorial Dr, Lawrence, KS 66045, USA
(785) 864-3835

Speaking of places to relax, there's nothing like a chilly walk on the KU campus to clear your head. The Memorial Carillon and Campanile is a beloved part of the Lawrence skyline. Overlooking Potter's Lake, it's a low-key place to share a picnic with the person you love. Show up at the right moment, and you'll get a free song!
