Black Tie. For ladies, this means that evening gowns are standard fare, but a formal cocktail dress (of the longer variety) or even an elegant suit also works. You can wear a gown in any silhouette you like. For gentlemen, a tux or formal suit paired with a tuxedo shirt, bow tie, a polished pair of dress shoes and an optional cummerbund is suggested.

Yes. Transportation will be provided from Downtown Norfolk Hotels for out-of-town guests who wish to use it. A formal transportation timeline will be available as the wedding date approaches.

First and foremost, we ask that if you are going to drive, you do so responsibly. Taxis, Uber, and Lyft are all offered in the City of Norfolk and private transportation will also be provided for out-of-town guests. ____________________________________________________________ Ceremony at Christ and St. Luke's Episcopal Church: Parking at the church is very limited, and includes on-street parking ONLY. Again, please utilize Uber, Lyft, and the like or carpool where possible. Once inside the church, Emilyn and Kofi do not wish to separate their guest to a specific side, so please take this opportunity to enjoy each other’s company and intermingle. "Pick a seat, not a side. We're all family once the knot is tied!" ____________________________________________________________ Reception at Norfolk Yacht and Country Club: There is ample parking at the Yacht and Country Club, in any of their guest lots, and overnight parking is permitted.

We ask that our ceremony and all formal reception events (i.e. first dance, cake cutting, family dances, etc.) remain cellphone-free. We request that rather than rushing to capture the "perfect moment" on your phone, instead, you allow our photographers to be responsible for this. Doing so will ensure not only that our wedding professionals are able to authentically capture our big day, but also that our guests are fully present with us during each and every special moment. Once the dancing starts, all bets are off and you're welcome to capture all of the candid moments that you can!!

While your children mean the world to us, due to safety concerns, we have opted to host an adults-only event. We hope you see this as an opportunity to let your hair down and join us in celebration of our union.
