Q + A

Is There A Dress Code?

Yes! We want everyone dressed their best for our special day. We request a formal attire for our wedding. For ladies, a dress below the knee or floor length. For gentlemen, a suit jacket will be required. Please do not wear jeans or any other casual attire. You can wear any color you like, but we kindly request you do not wear white or any similar color.

Where Should I Park/How Should I Enter the Church?

Future guest, Thank you for coming to witness the beautiful Sacrament of Matrimony between Emma and Jon-Luc at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church! We’re excited to see you. There will be a wedding team present so please let us know if there is anything we can do to assist you. To make your arrival and departure as seamless as possible, there is a diagram to help you know where to park and enter the church. The church recently went through a significant renovation that was completed in July 2023 (see the yellow areas below). If you arrive early, please feel free to tour our new Parish offices, meeting spaces and additional Narthex. It is recommended that you enter the parking lot off of Oak Ridge Road - see the purple arrows. The main parking lots on the North and East sides of the church are the best places to park. There are 2 main sets of doors where you can enter the church (See the red arrows in the diagram). The elevator is located on the East side of the church. There are handicapped parking spots right by it. It has 2 glass double doors and a small atrium. There are 2 options to exit. Please note that the North side exit is for East bound traffic only - orange lines. We hope you have a wonderful and blessed visit.

Can I Bring A Guest Who Is Not Noted On My Invitation (A Plus 1)?

If you received a plus one, this will be indicated on your invitation. Please ensure that you are RSVPing for yourself and your guest. Due to limited space, we can only accommodate those guests formally invited on your wedding invitation.

Are My Children Invited?

We adore all of your kiddos! However, due to limited space, we can only accommodate children that are formally invited on your wedding invitation. We respectfully request you only bring children that are included in the invitation. Please make sure to RSVP for them as well when you submit your RSVP.

Where Are The Ceremony And Reception Taking Place?

Our ceremony will take place at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church and will begin at 3 pm. We recommend arriving around 2:30 pm to find a seat and get situated before the ceremony begins. Our reception will take place at The Ritz Charles, about a 7 minute drive from the church. Both the ceremony and reception will be indoors, but the cocktail hour will be in an outdoor courtyard, weather permitting!

I am not Catholic, What Should I Expect at a Catholic Wedding Ceremony & Mass?

Our ceremony will be a full Catholic mass, lasting about 1 hour. Instructions for non-Catholics will be given prior to the start of the mass mass and will be listed in the ceremony program as well! Everyone will be able to participate in the mass, but non-baptized Catholics will be asked to refrain from taking Communion.

Can I Take Pictures During the Ceremony?

Since this is a Catholic mass and Holy Sacrament, we ask that all phones be put away and put on silent to allow everyone to be fully present in the ceremony and mass. After the ceremony, feel free to take as many photos as you want! We promise to share the ceremony photos as soon as we get them!

Is Parking Available At The Venues?

There is ample free parking at the church and venue. All parking lots are within walking distance and on the venue lots. The venue does allow you to leave your car overnight in case you are unable to drive home and seek other arrangements!

What Happens After The Ceremony?

Emma and Jon-Luc will take pictures with their families and the wedding party following the ceremony. Please use the time between the ceremony and cocktail hour to freshen up and relax for the night ahead. You will enjoy drinks and hors d'oeuvres for cocktail hour beginning at 5:30 pm and the reception will follow at 6:30 pm EST.

What Is The Weather Like In Indianapolis in June?

Welcome to Indiana, all of you out-of-towners! The weather here can be funny. During the day, the weather in Carmel should be beautiful, averaging 75-85 degrees. Sometimes it can get chilly at night, but with Indiana weather, we never know what we are going to get!

What Do I Do If I Can't Make It?

You will be dearly missed! Please indicate this on your RSVP as soon as possible so we can plan accordingly. If it is close to the wedding date, please email Emma at emmajonlucwedding@gmail.com.
