Our Wedding

At the start of 2020, both Emma and Zac were newly single and not looking forward to putting themselves back out there. The plan for both was to focus on themselves, work, and let the romantic chips fall where they may. Then, COVID happened. Locked inside of their homes for the foreseeable future, both Emma and Zac decided to spend their days swiping left and right on dating apps knowing the chances of meeting anyone in that moment were bleak, but it was better than sitting home all day worrying about the world. On April 13, 2020, Emma and Zac matched on Bumble. Emma asked Zac how he was handling the pandemic, and Zac responded by sharing a picture of his house plants that he had just named (Jaxson, Lola, and Margaret, if memory serves). After a few weeks of back and forth banter, Zac made his move. "What if I just happened to snag a coffee or something in Bishop Arts while you happen to be walking your dog tomorrow?" At the time, Emma lived a 5-minute walk to a cute little shop called Hola, so a social-distanced, curbside coffee date was made. On April 25, 2020, the two met outside Hola (no hugging, handshakes, nothing) and sat 6 feet apart while sipping coffee and getting to know each other for two hours. The rest truly is history. Since that day in April, Emma and Zac haven't gone a day without speaking. Meeting during the pandemic was literally finding love in a hopeless place, and enabled the two to get to know each other on a deep level, quickly. There were no distractions, obligations, or games the summer of 2020—just Emma and Zac, face-to-face, leaning into their love story. In April of 2021, Emma moved in and, six months later over Labor Day weekend, Zac proposed inside their home in front of Emma's parents, her sister and sister-in-law (who were in town visiting with their twins, Jack and Sloane), and some of her best friends. It was the perfect intimate moment, and the perfect proposal for them. From the beginning, Emma and Zac have capitalized on the fact that their initials are EZ. Although they met during one of the hardest years for the world, everything about their love has been EZ from the start. They cannot wait to celebrate their #EZlove on October 15, 2022, with their closest friends and family and continue their love story!

It's not often that your sister ends up being your best friend, but that's how it's been for Allie and Emma since day one. Emma quite literally doesn't know what she would do without Allie. Allie has been there for it all and always will be.

Besides Allie, Kelley has known Emma the longest. They met in elementary school when they were 10, became close friends when they were 17, college roommates when they were 18, and lifelong sisters ever since. Kelley also serves as Emma's personal therapist and has been seeing her once a week for 25 years.

Kate and Emma met at summer camp when they were 11, but were not friends right away. That would happen later when they were 16, and they would end up being bonded for life. Kate and Emma have a long history, and Emma couldn't be happier to have Kate by her side on this day.

Whitney and Emma met post-college through ex-boyfriends over a decade ago and instantly knew they'd be friends forever. Whitney has been there for every single season of Emma's life, and they've made too many memories to count in the last 10 years.

Annie and Emma also met through ex-boyfriends, but had no idea they also attended the University of Kansas around the same time. It's hard to find friends who understand your humor the way Annie and Emma just "get" each other, and that's what makes their friendship so special.

Also known by her maiden name "Geddie" and nickname "Marie," Stephanie and Emma met their freshman year in college at University of Kansas, and ended up pledging the same sorority, which sealed the fate of their friendship. Stephanie moved to Dallas after college, and her and Emma were able to do life together for over a decade, which was invaluable for both. Stephanie and her husband moved to Tulsa this year.

Zac and Nick have known each other since elementary school, and consider themselves brothers more than friends. They roomed together in college, produced and put on 1.5 music festivals in Dallas (a long story for another day) and have had too many adventures together to count over the course of their 35 year friendship!

Zac and Justin have also known each other since elementary school and roomed together in college. Fun fact: Justin is a celebrated chef who appeared on Food Network's Chopped back in 2010 and won!

Justin Burdett

Zac and Josh met by happenstance on the beach in Florida, where both lived post-college as young professionals. Their connection was instant, and the two have remained close ever since. In 2016, Zac and Josh created, produced, and almost pulled off an original music festival in Dallas called Bulladora. It got rained out, and they don't want to talk about it.

Steven is Zac's brother-in-law. Over the years, they've traveled together, celebrated holidays, and Steven's love and extensive knowledge of wine has grown Zac's taste and appreciation for it!

Steven is Zac's oldest nephew (14) and an all-star runner and soccer player!

Will is Zac's youngest nephew (12) and has a steel-trap memory. If you ever need a sport stat, Will is your guy.
