Jarred and I are what happens when you make the decision to drive to a rural farm in a snowstorm to watch a movie with a stranger you met on Tinder.
That was how our story began. In March 2022, we had matched on the online dating site Tinder. Normally, I would have swiped left on a guy with the usual online dating photos of him with a fish or him with a dead deer, but I took a chance and we started messaging.
This guy was not good at talking. After having nothing really in common at the time and just basic conversation happening for over a week, I deleted him and moved on.
A week later, while I was working at the small grocery store in Wembley, a guy who looked just like him came up to my cash register. I was so sure it was Jarred from Tinder but I didn't want to say anything.
I found him on Facebook and sent him a friend request. I then asked if that was him in the store, to which he replied, I haven't been to Wembley in days, you must have met my twin.
Thinking he was lying to me right off the bat, because who has a twin, he sent me a photo showing me in fact there were two of them and I had actually seen his brother and current Best Man Shayne.
That night I agreed to go over and watch a movie at the house he was living in the basement of, which belonged to his groomsman Matt. Driving over in the dark, in a snowstorm, I was convinced that I was going to be murdered but luckily I wasn't.
Since that night, we have been pretty inseparable for the most part and I can't imagine spending the rest of my life with anyone else. His family has welcomed me in since the beginning and they are some of Jarred and my biggest supporters.
After spending most of our three years together being vehemently opposed to marriage, without telling anyone, Jarred purchased a beautiful ring and proposed on vacation in the mountains on July 22, 2025.
When Jarred is not away working, we can be found participating in our favourite couples activity of golf, as well as camping, watching hockey, hanging out, or watching one of the many shows we start but never finish.
I can't wait to see what adventures we go on next. Thank you to everyone who is going to take time out of their lives to come and see where this road leads.
