139 Days To Go!

To our favorite people – we’re so excited for you to join us on our special day! We recognize many of you have likely never been to Maine before and we’d like to help make the most of your trip. To save you from wading through 8 million Reddit reviews, we’ve decided to throw together a list of places that are favorites of ours and tourists alike, along with suggestions of places to stay.

If you plan on staying in Maine longer than the weekend, we’ve included some road trip destinations and activities as well. The last weekend of September is typically near “leaf-peeping” season, so it should be prime time to drive Maine’s coast or through the mountains. There are so many beautiful places in Maine to stay that we couldn’t possibly list them all. Below are a select few that are popular – and for good reason.

For those of you flying in, the easiest choice would be to fly into Portland itself. The airport is Portland International Jetport (PWM), and is about 5 miles from The Old Port (nearest location to our venue). Flying into Boston Logan Airport is an often cheaper alternative that doesn’t require a layover, but would require taking the Concord Coach Lines bus into Portland or renting a car. It is about 2 hours by car to get from Logan Airport in Boston to Portland, ME.

Lastly, and perhaps most importantly, we’ve listed a few places to stay in The Old Port. However, staying in Portland this time of year can be pricey, so we highly recommend considering Airbnb options if prices are a concern. Please reach out to us for any questions about this! Our wedding venue is on Peaks Island, which requires taking a ferry. The ferry leaves from a dock in The Old Port – just walking distance from numerous hotels, restaurants, bars, and shops. The Old Port is Maine’s busiest location for places to go out and spend an evening. Staying here would enable you to walk from your hotel to the ferry, attend the wedding, ferry back to Portland after the reception, and, if you so choose, enjoy the rest of your evening out in The Old Port. Be aware that licensed retailers in Maine can only sell alcohol until 1am, so that tends to be when everything shuts down.

Portland really is full of so many gems that we couldn’t possibly include them all here. We included a short list of possible restaurants, but there are so many fabulous ones suitable for any price range, it’s impossible to list them all. Hopefully this trip will be enough to entice you to return for more in the future.

Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions, big or small. We’re looking forward to celebrating with you soon!

All the best,

Emma and Kevin
