Jakob and Emma met during the summer of 2020 through a mutual friend. Their first date was at his apartment where they ate pizza and chicken strips. Emma knew Jakob was pretty special when he went out to buy her BBQ Sauce for her chicken strips before she got to his apartment. After that date Jakob and Emma were nearly inseparable and hanging out almost every day. Just a few months into dating Emma knew that Jakob was "the one".

They got engaged on November 23, 2024 at Cedar Ridge Winery. Emma thought that night would be dinner at a Mexican restaurant and then a Hailey Whitters concert in Swisher with friends as her early birthday celebration. Before heading to the concert, they made a quick stop at Cedar Ridge "to meet a few other friends," but instead Emma was met with a beautiful proposal set up.
