Brett called to his mother as he walked out the door, “Hey, Mom. I’m going to meet a buddy for pizza. I’ll be home later. Love you.”
It was all going to plan until my sister did what older sisters do; she told my mom the truth.
Emma and Brett have a passion for pizza. Whether consuming it multiple times in a single week, debating which of the local shops has the best crust, or ordering three pizzas and discussing which of the leftovers, if there were any, each would go for first later in the evening even though they were still plenty full from the first go-round. With this in mind, it only makes sense that the story of Emma and Brett begins at a spot in Delmont, Pennsylvania called Ianni’s Pizzeria.
(In case you are wondering, the Domenica is the best. Go and try it for yourself!)
Emma and Brett had been friends since their middle school friend groups merged in high school. Four years went by, and the two went on their ways to attend their respective colleges, where they both played a sport (Emma swam at Indiana University of Pennsylvania and Brett played football at Case Western Reserve University). As collegiate athletes who were attending universities in different states, it was only during their summers would the two see each other as they joined their hometown friends for concerts, holiday parties, or backyard bonfires. Rightfully so, Emma and Brett seemed to find interest in each other after their first year at school during the Summer of 2018. After exchanging text messages day-after-day and going on several dates over the months of that summer, Emma and Brett decided to officially begin dating on July 19. They kicked off their journey together that will come to no surprise for most – over a pair of Chipotle bowls.
