Q + A

About the venue

We are so lucky to be able to have our wedding at the Hackmatack Farm and Playhouse! The Guptill family has had the Hackmatack for decades and we are lucky to call them our friends. This property is a stellar combination of beautiful farm fields filled with pigs and bison, and an old barn converted into a playhouse. The Hackmatack has hosted plays for generations and we are honored to use the space to celebrate our union!

Is there transportation from the hotels?

Yes! There is a bus from each hotel headed to the venue. The first bus pick up will be at 2:15 and they will be running throughout the wedding to drop people off at the hotels through the evening.

Since there is transportation, is there parking at the venue?

Yes! You are more than welcome to park directly at the venue if you'd like. If you are not staying at the hotel you are welcome to park there to take the shuttle to the venue and return to pick up your car.

When can guests begin to arrive?

The Ceremony will begin at 3:30 and guests will be welcome to start arriving at 2:30. The first bus will be leaving at 2:15 from the hotels.

When should I RSVP?

Please RSVP through the emailed invitation by May 10th.

Are kids invited?

Partially, yes! We will have a few kids involved in our ceremony, but any others between the ages of 3-10 will be asked to stay at the Lady Mary Inn during the ceremony. We have the whole house reserved and we will have multiple people (including an elementary school teacher) there to hang with them, play games, enjoy the gardens and the game room, and to have a pizza party! The wedding party and immediate family will be at the Lady Mary for the weekend and it is open for you all to come visit and take advantage of the very cool, old, victorian property. More specifics: - All children in the babysitting group will be brought back to the venue for the dancing and dessert portion of the reception! If you would your prefer your child not ride the bus that is chaperoned by the adult babysitter, you will have the opportunity to take a ride to the Lady Mary to ride back with your kiddos. (There will not be an option to leave them for babysitting after this time. All kids and babysitters are then making their way to the venue.) If you have your own transportation, you may certainly take that! The Lady Mary Inn is approximately 10 minutes away from the venue. detailed specifics pertaining to kids transportation will be sent to you closer to the week of the wedding. - You will be reached out to individually closer to the wedding regarding whether or not this pertains to you. This additional information will include contact for the babysitters, timing of buses and transportation for the kids/their adults, and any specific information regarding food and activities. - If you have a baby with you that is under 3, they are welcome to join you for the ceremony as well as the reception - If your child has any specific dietary needs we will happily provide whatever food/accommodations necessary and there will be a spot on the invitation to let us know. - We know that many of our guests are traveling with their kids and we are very excited to have them with us! We are lucky to have so many people in our lives to include in this event, so the limiting factor is ceremony and early-reception seating. Having entertainment at the inn provides the opportunity for the kids to run around and play with each other for a few hours before getting to join us for dancing and dessert. Please reach out to either Emma or Jesse with any and all questions and we will happily try to accommodate you!

Are there any events outside of the wedding for all guests to attend?

Yes! We will be having a welcome party at Corner Point Brewing in Berwick (1 Sullivan Street, Berwick, Maine). Please join us there on Friday, June 13 from 6pm-8pm and drop in any time. There will be pub food and beer available for purchase. We have the whole space until 8 pm to provide a spot for everyone both local and from out of town to get together before the wedding. There is no obligation to attend, just a spot to land with mutual friends for some chicken tenders (et.al) and a local beer! Sunday Morning (June 15) from 11-1 we are welcoming all to swing by the Lady Mary Inn for a bite and a drink to say goodbye on your way out and to celebrate Fathers Day together! More information on events under "Things to Do".

What's the dress code?

Semi-formal/cocktail! Put on something that makes you feel good and come boogie with the bison with us!

Is there an open bar?

Not for the entirety of the wedding. We will have a batch cocktail, a local beer, and a variety of wines/champagnes/beers and sodas that will be available to all during the cocktail hour and until they run out. Other beverages generally stocked at the bar will be available for purchase. Outside of the limited supply of batch cocktail, there will be no liquor available at the venue. There will be beer, wine, and malt beverages such as High Noon.

Is the event inside or outside?

Weather permitting, the ceremony will be outside and the reception will be inside the barn/playhouse. If weather is against us, the majority of the event will be in the barn and the cocktail hour will be under a party tent.

Are plus ones invited?

Your invitation will name those included in your invitation. Due to seating space, please do not bring a plus one outside of the indicated people listed on your invitation. If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to us directly. We're sorry for any inconvenience but we do hope to see you there!

When will the reception end?

The wedding will end at 10:00 pm
