We met in college, Biology 101. On the very first day, I turned to him, smiled, and said hello — and he rolled his eyes. Rolled. His. Eyes. Naturally, I assumed he was completely stuck up and made a mental note to avoid him.
Fate (and our professors) had other plans.
We ended up in the same study groups, although calling it a “study group” is generous. He never actually studied — he just showed up to distract the rest of us, I tried very hard to not be entertained by him.
Then Covid hit, everything shut down, and when we finally returned to campus… something changed. We spent every day together, inseparable, and I found myself always wanting to be near him. The guy who once rolled his eyes at me somehow became my favorite person to talk to, laugh with, and do absolutely everything with. He became the funniest, kindest, and most generous person I knew.
When we finally decided to start dating, he asked me to be his girlfriend in California in the middle of the ocean.
Fast forward 4 years: my childhood best friends came to visit, we were in Sedona (my favorite place on earth), and he completely caught me off guard by proposing. It was the best day ever — in the red rocks, with my best friends, saying yes to the person who I once tried so hard to pretend I didn't like.
And now here we are, ready for our next adventure… still laughing, still distracting each other, and still choosing to sit side by side — no eye rolls this time.
