Over the course of our relationship, we kept making trips back to Charleston, SC for our vacations. Matt went to college in Charleston, and the first time I visited 5 years ago, I instantly fell in love with the city. This year, we were debating for a few months where we wanted to go for our annual fall vacation -- return to Charleston for a 3rd time, or visit somewhere new. Ultimately, we decided to go back, turn a long weekend into a 5 day trip, and book a place directly on the beach so we could enjoy the beautiful October weather the south has to offer.

Once we landed and got our rental car, we had some time to kill before we could check into our condo rental. There's this really cute park called the Pitt St. Bridge that we always try to stop at during our visits for some photo opps, so we decided to stop there first, before checking in to where we'd be staying. We were walking around, discussing plans for dinner that night and what we wanted to do during our trip, when all the sudden Matt stopped walking. I didn't know what was going on so I went over to him and he told me that there was something he wanted to ask me, and then pulled out the ring from wherever he had been hiding it! Everything else he said is truly a blur, since as soon as I saw the ring, I was in such shock, I couldn't focus on anything else!
