Our story started via online dating in the middle of the pandemic. We talked for several months online before we even met in person. We used to text each other as if we were writing letters and got to know each other extremely well before meeting.
Once we met in person, it was as if we had known each other our whole lives. We spent hours together on our first date, walking and talking at the Boathouse in Guelph. What was meant to be a brief walk ended up being a 4-hour first date where we just talked and got to know one another.
A month after we met in person and a couple of months after we first started talking, we officially started dating in June 2020.
Our first year and a half of being together was challenging to navigate dating through a pandemic. We went on A LOT of walks. Adam had just finished school and was working for Wellington County, and Erika returned to school for Respiratory Therapy. We made it work with Erika, who was in a difficult program and studying all the time, and Adam, who was starting his new profession in human resources.
In 2024, Erika finished school, and in January, we moved in together in Guelph. After navigating through living together and working and being together for four years, Adam proposed in August 2024.
